MTEC 4750K Bulbs Wow

I've never been a fan of blue colored lights. Because they're using the blue spectrum of light, they effectively put *less* visible light on the road. There's a reason why halogen bulbs are the color that they are. HID lights are an entirely different beast, with no comparison to blue bulbs. The emit super-white light, with a small sliver of the blue spectrum coming out as a side-effect (not a feature).

Then again, bling factor > function.

Agree! Tried the blue tinted bulbs once. I couldn't see crap with them on black pavement. Can't even tell I've headlights on when the road was wet. Don't waste your money at all.

Now I've no idea how this Iridium tinting works. Hopefully the iridium tint doesn't work like a filter like the blue filter bulbs. I suspect the iridium is just a filter (=less usable light) in this case though.

I sincerely hope you're being facetious...

Coming from Oregon, I find your statements amusing. Rain and darkness don't deter the Oregon Motorcyclist!! :laughing :teeth

I find a certain degree of pride riding in the pouring rain. The stares I get from innocent women and children riding in cages is worth the price of admission.

I ride to enjoy, not get wet and cold and increase my risks as cagers can't drive worth crap in the rain. I'll pass on the the stares....thanks.

I too ride to enjoy, and I do even in the rain. If you get wet and cold, that's your fault. I can't count the number of times I've ridden multi-hour trips in Oregon rainstorms and stayed both warm and dry. All it takes is good gear and a willingness to be different. But, ah, I am different! C'est la vie.

Nothing against you VeloceMoto. It's just not for me. I guess some riders are more hardcore than others. I'm just...softcore.:D

Has anyone tried the Sylvania SilverStar's? I want to find some bulbs that will improve the amount of light.

I have them on my car and I am pretty happy with them. They are brighter and the light does seem whiter. Also, they don't have the blue coating so it is actually more light.

i've experienced both mtec and the silverstars. mtec is better as it's cheaper, and the color is better.

haha i found the 1%, people from Oregon:laughing

I bought some bulbs on ebay for $15 shipped and they look exactly the same and they haven't blown out so I'm happy.

I know the guy (your friend) selling these and I may pick some up if my ebay uber bulbs ever fry. :)

VeloceMoto,
You have to understand that a vast majority of the sportbiker community is prettyboys caught up in the bling and the flash and the image they portray, and not into being actual riders. Wind, rain, and darkness to them are foreign concepts, while for some, they are times when the fun only begins.

I'm running the silver stars in my '04 R6 and they look cool. I liked my Philips Vision Plus bulbs, they didn't have the "cool" blue look that most folks like but damn they were bright. I have another set of the Silverstars in my garage so after that set goes out, I'll go back to the Vision Plus's or real HID.

Subject line reminds me of eBay...Wow!

Where are you ordering the Philips Vision Plus from?
