or, if you want a decent solid-state go Gallien-Krueger 1100RB
 
Play out of a classic ampeg (bookoo $$$) and then try a solid-state. There's a world of a difference.

Obviously, you're not looking for a $1500 tube amp ; but you can find decent used tube amps for good prices if you're patient.
 
Time is something I don't have right now. In fact, I'm gonna have to sell off my guitar equipment in order to fund said bass rig. :(
 
Why sell the guitar right? Unless you plan on gigging IMMEDIATELY, I'd keep the guitar and wait til I can afford the bass.
 
Ampeg is to Mercedes; as Crate/Peavy/Hartke/Kustom/Line 6 is to Kia.

Oh, Fender/SWR/GK make decent gear (but you'll spend more money upgrading than you would if you just bought a nice amp/cabinet outright)
