MX kneepads under jeans -- which ones?

So I realize that jeans are not the best option -- but sometimes it's just more practical. I do want to get some knee armor -- but wondering which ones work best.

Any thoughts/opinions/reviews/links welcome.

Thanks,
Jack

Do you guys use these in replacement of buying textile or leather riding pants? I've been thinking about getting something like that to wear under jeans. Thanks!

I went to cyclegear and bought some 20 buck fox knee/shin guards. I strap them on over my jeans.
I wear leathers on long rides but when running errands or going to work on those hots days when the textile pants are just too much...

I wear them with boots and Bohn adventure shorts (for hip and tail bone protection.) They work great under my Abercrombe or Lucky jeans. A* Venom leathers are my gear of choice. I bet my combination (knee guards under jeans) is better than any draggin jeans protection.

Just so were clear:
Don't waste your money on 2 strap ones. I gave mine away and felt stupid for trying them. Buy the 3 strap ones with the strap above the knee. And wear your reflectors so an old lady doesn't think your a bush.

i'd think those would be ok mountain biking etc but it looks like, unless you were wearing leather over them, they get caught on the road and either make you tumble or they'd just tear.

Nope. I just use them because sometimes I feel like wearing jeans, esp. hot days. I have textile overpants for when I feel like it and for rainy commutes. I have A*S track pants for twisties. So...there you have it.

I did not like those at all. The top where the knee is "floats" underneath jeans and makes a huge bulge where your knee is. Plus...they are tiny compared to the FLY's.

icon makes some knee ans shin gaurds for the street.. dont have a pic but just look on their website.. might be rideicon.com or sumthin

Yeah, I just got these :

When I wear then under my jeans, You can barely tell. They are somewhat comfy, and from what I can see, offer good protection.

They *only* problem, is the shin part goes down kinda far, and overlaps with my Sidi boots. So, the bottom part of the guard goes over my boots. My shin is very well protected now

$10 or $50, just get something to protect your knees & shins. Levi's don't do doodoo for protection. You might as well be wearing shorts. I've got the $10 Shift brand ones and they saved my knees on a 25mph Muni tracks booboo in the city. It's the best $10 you'll ever spend.

after reading up on the motox knee guards and hearing input from everybody, it seems that the icon field armor knee/shin guards are the way to go. from what i hear from people, the $15 knee guards are too bulky and can shift around. the $50-$60 bigass robotic plastic knee/shin guards look huge and super bulky... so i think spending $65 for the icon field armor is worth it since it looks most fitting and protective.
