My 15 Seconds In Oakland

Raccoon straights, if the wind and tide is just wrong you can tack back and forth and go backwards
Thats the beauty of a trimaran, we can get through Racoon Strait on a flood with just 7kts of wind, when monohulls typically need to motor through.

i’m gonna start calling you toys-r-us cuz you seem to have all the fun ones.

It REALLY IS a Dog Toy.....!

Have done the tack back-and-forth making no headway at the San Mateo Bridge trying to pass under South to North. Eventually motored but this rookie was concerned when we crested waves and hearing the prop whine as it came out of the water.

Tried real hard to break that boat. Like running at the rocky point of Alcatraz. Every attempt to turn away was thwarted. Finally invoked what I now call my Star Trek sailing maneuver. Just like Kirk told Scotty to give him full power and head for the sun, that's what I did, let the sheets out, built up speed so that eventually, I could gain momentum to tack through the howling wind coming from the direction of the Golden Gate. Learned the lesson again, that sometimes, speed is necessary to maneuver.
