My OG mend has started.

Keep an eye on those calories I suppose, also, some of that could be water weight from the meds maybe? Awesome to be in control of your mobility somewhat.

today some goals met and some worries.

Did PT twice. Got the leg helper strap and I was able to get out of and in bed myself. Big win there.
Made it to the restroom on my own as well. Another big win.
Also was able to change my sweat pants on my own. Small win.

Gained 3lbs since I got here. Not good so will be watching that. Not like I am getting a lot of exercise so looking forward to discussing this with the dietician. I DO NOT want to start gaining back any of the weight I have lost.
focus on the wins and what can be done to limit weight gain while also realizing that healing your body and losing weight generally do not go together.

have you ever tried a no-carb diet? if i were in your shoes i'd be eating only rib eye and hamburger patties...i mean...that's all i eat now, but that's all i'd eat then...too...

but for real, rib eye and hamburger meat is what your body needs to heal itself. and lots of it. i'm talking 3-5lbs a day if you are truly no-carb.

I hear you on the weight! I usually a gain a little in such circumstances, but it comes off with the progressive activity. I think once I even needed a bump up in BP meds for my last bone break.

And, I imagine you have been advised not to take NSAID's since the summary of research shows it slows down bone union, unless you're a small child.

I found I’d lost 66 pounds when I came home from having my stroke.

I gained weight in the hospital. My one and only time as a patient was...ugh. Left them as a mishappen Sumo because they fed me a milkshake for weeks via a pic line. Along with the bugs from the OR, thanks for turning me into a weather balloon, Doc.

(I'm still here, so grateful for the team.)

Usually takes 2 weeks to climb out of the deep pain and feel more like oneself. Try not to overdo it just yet, there’s plenty of time for that in the next weeks. Sounds like you are well on your way out of the total suck and with strong support and a good plan. :thumbup

you’re also not able to sweat and lose water that way. remember that!

Hope you are doing rehab soon, at home. The best place to get better.

One tough way to lose weight mister.

It wasn’t really that hard. All I did was lay in bed and eat what they fed me. What’s tough is living day to day with the results of a stroke. I hope Budman has an easy time with his recovery.

I lost 20 pounds with the new "Dog and Motorcycle Diet". It's very effective, but I don't recommend it. lol Hope you heal fast and well Budman. I know sometime when healing it feels like you're not progressing, but look back a week or so and you will see the progress. Good wishes sent your way,

Stretch and bend and push and release. Left foot right foot swing to the side and stand!!

Woot woot!

Congratulations you’re out of bed!

Loveyoumeanit!

Longest walk so far. All the way to the gym. Some exercises and then walked all the way back. Leg hurt. Crunchy feels while walking. :(
