New AAA DMV fees (and the necessity for premium roadside coverage for motorcycles)

They did not move their dispatch center to Texas. If your call went to Texas, there was some emergency technical issue. AAA of Northern California isn't associated with AAA South and AAA of Northern California only routes calls to their own centers unless there is some huge problem. I know this because I used to have responsibility for their Telecom department.

How long ago did you do that? They told me it was the new system. Nobody mentioned they were having problems. They said the problems we were encountering were nothing new under this new system.

Basically they sent a tow truck to pick up my buddy's car and I, but not us. This was 2 hours after we called.

It took another 2 hours to get another truck, this time it was not a flatbed and the car had suspension failure on the drive axle. We chanced it anyway given we'd already waited 4 hours.

Every time we called we got a different person, who had to put us on hold while they called the regional center. It was a nightmare.

when you live off of (off of????) student aid, maybe you shouldn't complain of having three vehicles!!! Juis sayin!!! three veh. is having it good!

Right? I lived at home with my mom until I was 24 so that I could have these things. The extra hours I pick up at Trader Joes helps me afford to keep them.

I called a friends AAA cuz I accidentally hit my new fancy power locks and locked us out in a gym parking lot. I'm not accustomed to such luxury car features. Polite tow truck guy showed up in 20 mns and opened the door without laughing at me. It was great.
(love that air pump they use. No scratches, no problems, excellent super fast way to steal a car)

if you get rid of AAA you wont have to worry about $12 here or there, just saying.

AAA premier gets you M/C tows/roadside assistance and $25,000 evacuation insurance worldwide.

So are you saying that AAA will go to the DMV for you so you don't have to? And it only costs $4? I had to go in twice last week, for one Item. I waited 50 minutes the first time and an hour the second. And that was with an appointment! Hell, I would gladly have paid someone $4 to do it for me...

Seriously. Is someone really complaining about a $4 fee to avoid the dmv?

If so, stop it. You're the type thats making this world impossible to live here. You expect everything and want to pay for nothing. Life isnt that easy, surprise!

I never said I don't want to pay anything. I'd be more than happy to pay it in my annual fee. It's very easy to point the finger when you're a complacent consumer. You guys can keep paying your fees for service you've already paid for, I won't be renewing my service.

I went to the AAA office in Larkspur and was in and out in five minutes. It's still better than DMV offices.
Same here, I dun just registered a bike at AAA, (Since I sold my BMW I no longer need the tow service but keep the card fer times like these) and wa-lah, I'm outta there in a few minutes, after dealing with a pleasant, intelligent, tasty, kind woman.
Hell, I'd pay $1,000 fooking dollahz ta keep outta that Leper colony known as the dmv. Fuck those rude, foul, vile, incompetent pieces of luzer shit!
Hey Opie, next time ya go leh-me-no, and I'll give you the 4 f'n dollahz! :laughing

Their call centers are in Livermore, Stockton and Elk Grove. Used to be one in Petaluma but they moved that one out to Elk Grove cuz rent was cheaper. I think there is a fourth one but I cannot for the life of me remember where it is.

I know that if they don't pay me back, I'm cancelling and signing up for AMA.
You should. EVERYONE should. AMA costs only $39 buys you a better bargain than the $79 AAA, tows your bike and they fight for our moto rights.
When you live off of student aid, 12 makes a big difference, just sayin!
You should be walking my daughter's dog, Kevin.:p Much less stressful than fighting the system over $4 AND you get paid. Poverty solved.:teeth

Why on earth are you wasting money on the luxury of AAA if you're living off of student aid?
True, but considering my stupid kid has locked herself out of her car 3 times this year already, and siupid me has run out of gas once, AAA is well worth the buck(s). Didn't even know they did DMV stuff til now.:thumbup
In fact, with all the mostly positive feedback this thread has generated for AAA; you should ask for $4 for promo sponsorship.:laughing

I would gladly walk her dog. I need a reason to get away from the books, and I miss having animals around.

They closed Elk Grove and Livermore. There was never a center in Stockton. Believe me, I know what ACD systems they use. I've seen the routing tables.

Nope. You'll be standing in line at the DMV! :laughing

Ukiah wasn't so bad a few years ago when you would walk in and stand in line. You could see how many people were ahead of you and make a estimate of how long it would take. Now they do this strange "DMV bingo" where you get a number that starts with a letter when you walk in and everyone is spread out in the chairs waiting for their letter/number to be called. (a28, g36, b21, m54 Ect) there no way to know if you are going to be there 15 minutes or 2.5 hours. Seating is limited and this brings the next question.... Why bring the whole family tree with you. There's always a group that pulls in with a rusted out hoopty car and 16 people climb out and take all the seats. You only need to send in one person fuckers!!

I'd pay$20 a visit to AAA to avoid this mess
