New Daft Punk album

Looks like most of the songs got yanked off of groove shark. I'm sure they'll be back on soon enough.

Daft Punks new song is a'ight. Kinda the same funk as before with less electro. Went to a party at the Mezzanine about a month ago to see Breakbot and the party was crackin'! Funky ass electro music with good bass. Thinking about checking out Bag Raiders and Classixx show at the Mez in June. Anyone here interested?

I agree with your comment but what out of period music are you talking about? It's bland and flat except for a few tracks. I have listened to the whole thing 3 times now and still am like meh. All there other albums have been journeys into the mind and space. This one feels like elevator music and doesn't grab me yet.

Gotta agree with you, I really wanted to like this album as I'm a huge fan of DP, but this was a bit of a let down. Nothing original, just ripping off a few beats from the funk/disco era and putting their own twist on it. DP was known for making fun music, music you can dance to. There were a few decent tracks, but nothing noteworthy.

I have listened to the album about 20+ times now and its growing on me but in an odd way. I am not OMG Daft Punk you need to listen but instead I feel like just chatting about it to hear what other people think and so far most agree. The album is unique but kinda meh in the sense that they could have done more. With that being said I believe they created an album that was made to be remixed to hell and back. The put out something in hopes it will become the next Amen break or something like that which very well could happen. If you check youtube the album is already mixed up by a lot of people.

Giorgio imo is the best track

Didn't realize that Daft Punk did 'Da Funk' and 'Around The World' ....I love both of those tunes. Fuck yeah Daft Punk! :laughing

around the world and da funk are their two most radio played songs (da funk is my fav) but they have others that got god play as well.

Love that album! Used to play that when I dj'd at the Golden Skate skating rink, best high school job :laughing

Not really familiar with Daft Punk, what's their most famous or popular song?

whoa... nice, a care-free guy!

I heard the new daft punk album... 2 songs was all it took
the first one lame
second one with some guest singer, at least I agree it could be a nice hotel bar or elevator music, easy going

good god. I have to survive disco twice in my life now! :facepalm

:laughing

What made it lame Abby? I totally agree with you that this is kinda like feel good background music which I believe it was they were going for. I do enjoy listening to it while doing other stuff around the house. I do enjoy the album but I am looking forward to the remix of it which I believe will be a bigger success since it is geared more towards this LOLedmLOL generation. I can't believe I used EDM in a sentence, kill me now.

What I like about the album, is that it is an album. It isn't just retro music, it is an ode to the album (which is sadly gone, at least in that form). Not every song is intended to be a single, and it is intended to be listened to from start to finish.

I never really cared for Daft Punk, and I don't think this is the greatest album ever. I kinda like it though and get the concept. Like it or not it is a musical record. There is really good musicianship and the production is fucking excellent. It is their homage to the shit that paved the way for current EDM (shudder, now I said it too).

I also like that they are Daft Punk and they could have simply put out another dance hit laden record, and it would have banged in every club around the world, but instead they said fuck you we are Daft Punk, deal with it, cause this is what we did.

That song Giorgio By Moroder is awesome.

It's simply not my cup of tea. Some like frappucinos, other espressos. I come from the time where I heard the Chrystal Method in 1994 and thought it was awesome.

yeah I think I heard "Giorgio By Moroder" but can't remember if that was the okay or not the okay song. anyway I aint playing it now, playing Chrystal Method

Not a fan of CM. they sound like a movie score or background music, or something they would play at laser tag.

ive listened to the entire album 4x now over the past week and there is only 1 thing that i dont like.... its too damn short. the whole album builds to "Contact" quite well for me and then its over; I WANT MORE!

aside from that, ive got a mixed CD of Daft in my truck (none of the new stuff) and there are major hints of what everyone is calling 'lounge music' in a bunch of their older songs. so rly, RAM isnt a stretch for me from prev Daft.

Daft Punk also did the sound track to Tron Legacy... And had a cameo, as dj's...
