New Pirelli slicks geared for track day riders

I'll be doing a write up in the next few days as I have time. But...to answer your questions: We did try everything we could to kill them. Warmers, no warmers, I did 5 fast laps from a dead cold stop with all the laps below 2 min. High pressure, low pressure, I even changed the rear shock from my Race-Tech back to the stock shock and they still looked great...

We did not flip the tire and I would say on my R1, at least one more day. I could not get the tire to spin under normal riding, only when I tried to burn it off, would it move around, but it still did not spin up.

Sounds like grip is just fine to me reading that! I love pirellis but the cold tearing moved me to dunlops. Maybe this tire is the hot ticket!

What kinda HOT pressures do these things like?

Does anyone know what the geometry of the tire profile is compared to Diablo SC DOT Race? More triangulated...less? Blah blah blah...

how about price for a 120/190 set?

These new tires are going to be Chris's own nemesis for business as everyone will only buy one pair for the season, so be sure to use the extra money on more trackdays and keep the tire usage up.:laughing

For anyone curious to how the Super Corsa front and Dragon Pro rear wear...

This is after 4 AFM races, 3 AFM practices, and 2 trackdays all at a pace of 1:50 around Sears Point on ZX6. These things stuck like glue to the very end.:thumbup

Just heard good things about these tires at the WERA 6 hour at miller. They're still good to go:)

I had a chance to put on a rear Pro and try it at Thunderhill yesterday during the Keigwin's novice school. I wanted to see what kind of lap times I could get down to, so I waited for the track to shut down at lunch time and go out without any students on track. I did 5 flying laps with the first one in the 1:54 range and the next three were 1:53.8, 1:53.6, 1:53.5 and 1:53.4. I felt that I could have gone even faster had I had a better front tire on, but for what is supposed to be a track day tire, it has plenty of grip to go at a good pace. What really amazed me is that after I came in, the tire looked like it had maybe 1 scrub-in lap on it.

Later in the day I tried to abuse the tire more by doing a couple of hard laps, then letting it cool off for about 15 minutes, then going out and running hard for a few laps again. I did that several times and the tire continued to look brand new. Last time I did that on SC3 rear, it started tearing.

If you're a track day rider that is looking for good performance that will last for days...this is as good as I've seen a tire do.

Yea these tires are that good. :D No warmers, great turn-in, confidence, and not a bit of wear after a full day of 2-ups. Chris, you have the Everlasting Gobstopper of tires there. :thumbup

I put 185 miles on these tires Monday. They warm up quick, The bike steers well, they gave great traction all day. All the things I would expect from Pirelli.

I guess what we all really want to know is, how long will they last?

Currently the tires are wearing nicely.(I will post pics of the tires tomorrow)

I will run these tires on my bike until they start to lose grip or wear out.
My next trackday will be May 7th at THill. I will report back again with pics.

Whatever secret rubber he used to mold this thing in his back yard it works better than I imagined it would. It had same grip on lap 1 and lap 155, smooth like baby ass and still has 70% rubber left. Not even flat spot on it. I have done more of this endurance races than I remember but never seen anything like it. It is in black bag now in secret place waiting for willows 6hr :teeth

Woo hoo!!! These tires are that good!!! Did june 5th with PTT, couldn't be happier!!!!! Was using BT003's before this, on a liter bike and shagging the rear left side in 1 day. Put these pro's on and turned 2:08 down to 2:02 pace all day, no where near as smooth as mr Hill. Set the pressures f 29 r 25 didn't check pressure again, No set up changes and no warmers. They still look almost brand new.
temp in the morning was 68 with a high around 90 give or take

They work really nicely, feels much grippier than a BT003RS. Haven't seen any odd wear or tearing on mine. Been to 2 trackdays with them on, and It barely looks worn. Definitely worth the money.

got them from Chris at the AFM event at Infineon

gonna try them out on Monday @ Thill

Had two friends running these in B+ for two days last weekend. At the end of the weekend they looked like they'd last forever.

If I get a second set of wheels, these will be what goes on there. Until then... The Q2's get double duty.
