NFL 2020

Now do this one.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/pass_yds_single_season.htm

Every 5,000 yard passer except Marino in 84 happened after the year 2000.

Change it to 4500 yards, 59 out of 67 happened after the year 2000.

Should have translated into a large increase in points over time, no?

Brady's 2020 numbers are 50th on that list.

But we all know it is a team, not an individual that wins, and a QB like Brady and Montana (and other successful one) have the shared history of gelling teams.

Well it's almost F1 time so I'll have to start a new F1 thread where a similar topic is discussed with Hamilton vs Schumacher and Senna.

Though Hamilton has never claimed to be the GOAT when asked.

In the past he's mentioned Senna with 3 championships vs him tied now with Schumacher at 7.

So the GOAT debate goes on in all sports it would seem.

I really think the Bucs D should have been given the MVP award. I know it does not go to a group but damn they did a mighty fine job of holding the Chiefs.

You have to admit it may not have affected scoring but it certainly had something to do with longevity.

I am not arguing against Brady being the GOAT because I think he is I just think it is easier being a quarterback now than it was in the old days.

I talked about this with a friend yesterday and he pointed out that Brady also plays smarter so he doesn't take hits. Like that play where the ball went way over his head, he just went and fell on the ball where someone like Mahonnes would have probably tried to pick it up and make a play and probably taken a hit from the incoming defensive player.

Back in the day, if Brady was trying to play at 40, Jack Lambert would just pull his arms his body off like snapping a wishbone and then just run around flapping them up and down in front of the other teams bench, shouting, "I do yoga, I do yoga, wooooooohoooo!" :laughing

Exactly. That is what made it harder to play into your 40s. Defenses were paid to kill QBs nowadays that gets you a fine(sideways look at Saints).

No denying defenses got away with more back in the day and that makes life harder for a QB. However what the old timers never seem to appreciate is how much better athletes the modern player is. These dudes are on insane regiments from the jump and are physically on a different level. Bigger, stronger, faster. Some of it is diet, new breakthroughs in training, better personal health (not smoking, etc) and better dedication to the game. It makes sense, there is more money involved and the best talent will always naturally gravitate towards the money.

Put it simply, there weren't as many guys running 4.40s in the 80s

Jack Tatum would be using Tom Brady's 38 year old organs as his sexy time parts.

Ronnie Lott would have literally killed someone on the field lol

I'm pretty sure he is who Ray Lewis learned murder from.

Icky Woods is still buried 3' underneath the earth somewhere under the apartments at Candlestick Point.

Did Icky ever actually play at the 'stick?

In other news, this was the lowest rated SB in quite a few years....

No, Ronnie tackled him in the parking Lott. Why you think his career so short?

:teeth

That was a terrible superbowl, I did not expcet the Chiefs to get trounced like that, they clearly were not coming in to play, they bought too much of their own hype and were already building their trophy stand.

:facepalm

I wonder if Britt Reid's mishap was a distraction. It wasn't quite at Barret Robbins or Eugene Robinson level of distraction, but... :dunno
