Personally I can’t stand the fake war chant and the chop worse than any of the players, etc. I hadn’t read about the fan bit, but it’s a stadium full of insensitive morons who do that Hollywood war whoop and get all serious about it as they intone it. I really wish we could have a teachable, even gentle moment and move away from it. It’s a great team but I sure hate that tradition. Wince wave. It’s a weird misuse of the power of music that I would otherwise appreciate because we don’’t sing enough in the country, a basic human need, like dance as well. The soccer folks have songs in those countries and it’s a highlight, really, of the group experience.
Just try and imagine them all singing a line sounding like a Spiritual had the team had a discredited team name for black people. It is truly offensive in the context of all the other changes instituted lately in the name of de-colonization or some kind of social sensitivity. And even more so since its in the vicinity of the removal over the line in Oklahoma. I can imagine that a lot of people with native heritage just take it with some kind of grace but they shouldn’t have to.
One kid trying to color his face and wear a headdress pales in comparison imo. And yes, I know it’s white Karen territory to decide what someone else from a victim group should feel but c’moooooon, we moved away from Redskins and I think the Atlanta baseball team doesn’t do that shit anymore (I “loved” it when Jane Fonda did it).

Oh boy, it makes the whole thing more dumb. Like, Black isn't even a Chiefs Color. If he had done Red and Yellow or Red and White, which I honestly have seen a lot of Chiefs do, he would have been fine.
