NFL 2023

If you’re the conspiracy type, besides the logo thing, Detroit Lions are the blockbuster storyline this year. Who can’t help but appreciate Big Dog Dan Campbell and redeemed Goff? Warm and fuzzy for the league.

They showed enough flaws yesterday that I think they are beatable but they definitely have momentum.

As for Ravens, it seems like they have everyone’s number and just a ferocious rush. But as long as we have CMC, and even Elijah Mitchell we got a running chance. And Purdy has been forced to get pretty damn good at screens and short stuff insofar as quick release (but because he’s short his passes can get knocked down). I guess Fred Warner becomes the spy on Lamar? He’s fast enough. He’s been really outstanding lately as being Mr. Everywhere.
A part of me fears the Ravens, but another thinks there will be a different matchup if we make it that far. Purdy really showed growth in this last game.

Joe Montana was one of many SF 49er quarterbacks to become a chief of the Chiefs. Joe Cool replaced Steve DeBerg as the `Niner starter. DeBerg then went to KC.

We all know who was next to go, Joe. Steve Bono was the next up in the SF to KC connection. Bono served as backup before Joe retired.

Later it was another rockstar named ex-49er, Elvis Grbac, to matriculate to the Chiefs.

Last in the lineage, Alex Smith completed the exodus, preceding Mahomes.

There's been one quarterback who has gone the other way. KC to SF. Can you name him without Google?

Thanks for the history lesson Bill. :laughing
No one, NO ONE gave the Chiefs a chance at the beginning of the season. Even I had my doubts. But looking at where they have been, and where they are now, they have as good a chance at doing it again this year as the Lions, the Ravens or the 9ers.
Anyway, one more win and they are in the big game. Here's to hoping.

Pretty tough to want good things for mahomes with all the helmet throwing and temper tantrums.

How can I not root for those poor humble bastards in Detroit.

They haven't gotten shit in 66 Years. Like literally, there is almost no one alive that remembers when they won something.

With the 2023 NFL season less than a month away, the countdown to Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas is officially on. The defending champion Kansas City Chiefs are the current favorites at +600. The Philadelphia Eagles (+750), San Francisco 49ers (+900), Buffalo Bills (+900) and Cincinnati Bengals (+1000) round out the top five.

WHAT AN UPSET STORY BY THE PLUCKY DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

They did have the (arguably) best running back to ever play in the NFL, though he retired much earlier than just about anybody wanted him to.

Maybe he just wanted to GTFO of Detroit. :laughing

I’m with you on that. Booing Stafford was a bad look but, I understand there frustration. Im rooting for Detroit.

Fuck the Chiefs Mahomes and Co need a big helping of humble pie and I am hoping the Ravens can give it to them hot and fresh this weekend. I would like nothing better than to see him crying on the sidelines as they get decimated by the Ravens.

Rooted for Detroit to beat the Rams, Rooted for them this last weekend but come this weekend it all Niners baby.

I just hope the niners choke, makes for great local panic radio.

I do listen a fair bit while working in shop and yard.

The lack of patience and perspective is astounding.

It’s like from hero to trash in 60 seconds.

I do not want the Niners to choke because I am a fan. But like ELdritch said, to want to root for the Lions and their story for everybody else is understandable. I mean, look at the contrast, loyal dog actual player coach versus cerebral genius guy with the weak chin and arguable neuroses in clutch situation. Even some Niner fans seem destined to dislike Purdy but Goff’s redemption, and a as a local, is another contrast.

With the AFC, it’s a wash because the Bills would have been close to equivalent.

Sure, in August.
But by the time the season started in September, with Chris Jones still a hold out, all the announcers were talking about how terrible our defense would be, and how we had the youngest defense in the NFL, and how it was another rebuilding year (remember 2022?), and, and, and....
Who among you thought the Chiefs had a chance at making the AFC Championship game this season? Be honest.

Chiefs fan that watches when I can and hope that they get serious late in the season. I’ll be cheering Mahomes and Traylor! I thought the Eagles looked better than the Chiefs a year ago and feel the same about the Ravens. The Lions story is cool as is the fact that when the Niners win they’ll be in a repeat bowl.
