NFL 2023

Wow. Impressive defensive battle.
I know that there was a lot of offense in the second half, but this was a defensive battle in the trenches. The 49ers were winning the battle until they started to get tired, and then the Chiefs started doing Chief things.
Overtime. You CAN'T give Patrick and the Chiefs the last possession. Ever.
Great game.

The difference was the mishandling of a punt and a missed extra point. Very true that you cannot give the chiefs extra opportunities.

OK, but lets give credit where credit is due: a BLOCKED extra point.

Brock Purdy is no Joe Montana. But Mahomes sure is.

A lot of ups and downs for the 9ers.

The Chiefs are now a dynasty with the win. I have gripes about some a Shanahan's calls, but it is what it is. I am sure he is mad enough at himself to not need me to pile on. :laughing

Some people suggested taking shots everytime Swift showed up. I counted 20 at least. Glad to not partake in that nonsense. :p

Congrats KC fans. :Port

Both sides had miscues.

It was a very close game, so I think that most people watching saw it as a good game if they weren't watching their own favorite play.

It was really a kickers game, amazing to see the longest kick broken twice in one superbowl, then I'm pretty sure that both kicked the kick-off through the goal posts, two amazing kickers!

Some the SF seem made of bone China.

"Fumble" off the heel on that kick was indeed WTF.

Kind of knew it was over when SF kicked that FG in OT.

Now that the disappointment has kind of worn off........

SF played a hell of a game it was just ugh. It was a defensive masterpiece and it just happened that KC seemed to have just enough to pull it out. Not sure what happened in the second half but SF D didn't seem to get to the QB like they did in the first and weren't as disruptive as they could have been.

Seriously how do we lose Greenlaw as he is running on the field kind of reminds me of Bosa getting spiked while on the sidelines. I swear the injury gods love SF a little too much sometimes.

Sigh I hope they can get back to the big dance next year but I think we won't look the same and some faces may be gone due to salary cap constraints.

I wish the Niners had won just so I could stop hearing about Mahomes and Reid for one year. I don't remember them talking this much about Belicheck and Brady when they were absolutely dominating the league but damn it's just KC, KC, KC all day long.....It's almost like the announcers get a bonus for how many times they say they are the greatest.

I saw Mahomes won the MVP, but personally I thought that their kicker really deserved it. If it hadn't been for his phenomenal kicking, Mahomes wouldn't have had a chance for last minute heroics.

On another note, I wish the fucking network execs hadn't decided that Taylor Swift and Kelce WERE the Super Bowl. I got sick and tired over their over-coverage and personally thought he looked and acted like an asshole.

More like Rodgers' injury; popped Achilles....

I think Dunkin Donuts won the commercials battle! :laughing

You can never tell how one play makes a difference. If Moody had made the extra point, maybe the Chiefs would have gone for a touchdown and made it instead of the extra point to tie the game and it would have been over then. Brock did himself proud. He's unflappable and the team already believes in him. They have nothing to feel bad about.

Mad

Agree... he was just a moment away of a true fairy tale story.
I so wanted them to call his number on a QB draw when they were in the red zone to make that come true.

It was and is personally gratifying to me that Purdy was NOT the reason for their loss. In other words glad to put the Purdy narrative away and just let him play henceforth.

I considered this game 50/50 chances all week so I wasn’t all shocked and bummed. I was expecting his passes to get knocked down but I think that only happened once. Seeing Moody’s kick knocked down surprised me but its significance is debatable to the final outcome.

There was a lot of satisfaction just seeing the Chiefs offense on their bench looking unhappy. Seeing Kelce attack Andy Reid was hilarious. What a jackass, albeit a great player jackass. So obvious that his girlfriend had him on the edge.

MCCaffrey will never forgive himself for that fumble. It was so unusual and momentous. Trent Williams penalties were not that unusual, but two in a row at the wrong game… man.

I loved that my prediction of early plays by Jennings and Juscyck came true. I really don’t like the idea of scripted first plays all that much because I think the game is too dynamic but I figured that it would be logical to not use the most predictable targets. I was thinking a Mitchell run right at the beginning in a play that looked like one for McCaffrey.
But the trickeration pass by Jennings! That was awesome.

We got our kicks just not the trophy. I’m cool with it.

We got a lot out of that game and my only prediction of scapegoating might be Wilkes.

I don't think this can be pinned on Wilkes. I believe it was recently revealed that Shanahan is largely in charge of the defense as well as the offense. Shanahan get's the majority of the blame in my eyes.

I blame Mahomes for being so damn good. :x

:laughing

I don't solely blame Wilkes it was a pretty well called game defensively. Unfortunately we couldn't get to the passer on the blitz and coverage fell short. I think that Greenlaw being out most of the game hurt us in the end a lot also.

But a lot of the onus is on the offense we left a lot of points on the filed as we had a ton of short field opportunities and we couldn't convert or make anything of the chances. You can't give KC the ball that often and expect them to not do something. The backbreaker was the punt hitting that Niner and forcing McCLoud to try and pick it up and it becoming a turnover.
