Nicotine as a focus supplement

I didn't know about the toxicity of nicotine I thought most of that was from the processing.

I don't know much about this either, very little.

But I heard a similar thing, that much of the addictive nature of nicotine is from the processing.

Nicotine IS quite toxic, but most folks don't consume it to that dangerous of a level.

I think the gum has to be the safest, most accessible technique. I can't imagine slapping a patch on late in a ride having any impact soon enough.

Also, if you're not doing it constantly, I would think the chance of addiction (whatever form you choose) would be low.

As a teenager, I smoked with peers for a summer, but then stopped. I never had anything that I felt was craving or addicting. It was a social thing, but we smoked quite a bit (<10 per day). School started, quit and that was that.

Just anecdata.

I came from a family of five. I was the only one who didn't use tobacco products. The only one.

I am the sole survivor.

Strokes, heart attacks, lung cancers and lymphomas took all of them. Just because it's legal and taxed doesn't make any form of nicotine a good idea.

OP your concerns about caffeine are valid and I agree. Took me a long time but I finally kicked the caffeine monkey off my back. Feel unbelievably better since and get more restorative sleep which helps alertness too. Best of luck on your journey.

Amazing, I have talked to a few people recently that have completely kicked caffeine and the significant changes they claim are worth listening to. I just love the taste of a great cup of black coffee. I will try 50/50 decaf on my next bag.

As far as addiction, that's not something I worry about. I've never had anything that I can't walk away from. Well except in my 20s after 3 beers on a Friday night that 4th was sure to follow, 5th....6.....

So my initial response was snark, but, actually, niccotine without the combustion isn't all that bad from a health perspective from what I have read / seen. It's addictive as all get out, more so then heroin, so that is something to be mindful of. I used to love a cigarette with coffee but I also love breathing so I quit them a few years after I started smoking consistently. I still enjoy cigars, but you don't inhale and there isn't much of a nicotine buzz there. I just like blowing smoke (there's a joke in there somewhere). People seem to like vaping, I can't stand the smell and have to assume there will be some discovery down the road about health impacts of whatever else is in the vape aside from the nicotine salts.

So I got the 2mg lozenges from target and broke it in half so 1mg. Seemed to help a little bit for late driving when I'm feeling sleepy. I've used them twice over a couple of weeks. Zero desire to have another one when the 1mg is dissolved. It wasn't pleasurable for me, but I will heed the warning of addiction.

I remember back in the day when you could buy Ephedrine at the gas station. Certainly was good for studying or just keeping the party going. Probably not good for ya though, but at least you got to keep your teeth.

Nicotine alone isn't cancer causing or super toxic in normal levels. It is addictive. You can buy measured amounts from vape stores, buy the gum, or lozenges. I would think those options would have the least amount of any negative additives.

I’ve tried nicotine gum during some tough study periods when coffee just wasn’t cutting it for focus, and honestly, it did help me stay locked in for a couple of hours. The downside was that I could definitely feel a tendency to reach for it more often, and after a week or so, I started feeling that addictive pull, so I dropped it. For me, the pros didn’t really outweigh the risks with regular use, and I ended up going back to caffeine even though it does mess with my sleep sometimes.

Anyone use Nicotine to help with focus for studying or even long rides? Is there a healthy way to ingest:)?
Caffeine is also a focus agent and it's less problematic.

Nicotine does have some benefits, short term, but too much long term issues. When I was doing plumbing to put myself through school, I could easily put in an 18 hour day as long as I had chewing tobacco, something I quit right after that period.

I loaded the sprinter van to capacity , home furnishings move to Oregon. 330+ p.m. called my wife in Oregon and informed her that I was about to depart and would not arrive until after midnight. She advised me to proceed to the kitchen and retrieve the all-purpose drawer, from which I was to take one of the vitamin energy packages.
I never take vitamins. I was wide awake at 12 AM

My son is addicted to Zyn. He uses it instead of tobacco. I wish he didn't use it but he's 45 and a construction Foreman, so it works for him.

You may want to look into L-Theanine and possibly with Noopept as well.

I understand they make caffeinated packs similar to the tobacco type of check `n gum style pouches. So, there's that.

You can cobble together a cocktail that will simulate (and stimulate) the nervous system similar to what's used by our flyboys on those long, mind-numbing missions.

For most, a Five-hour energy shot product is sufficient.

Cramming for a test is tricky. Memory tends to be recalled when in the same state of mind as the memory was formed. So, study when drugged, you might need to repeat the process when testing. Anecdotal story I remember in a study of the process was relating that a drunk who lost their car keys remembered when...they got hammered again.

As James Thurber once wrote, "You could look it up."

Or just take my word for it. ;)

lol - don’t need anything to encourage my brain to focus. more along the lines of needing something to tell it to shut the fuck up, so i can get some sleep.
