No MotoGP, SBK, or MotoAmerica on TV WTF?

Try a search, there's been a few threads about this.

The jist is that they are embattled with AT&T, Comcast and DirecTV over pricing and payments.

Xfinity (Comcast ) didn't renew their contract with BeIn... https://www.xfinity.com/facts/beinsports

I suspect that BeIn had to pay a lot to get the rights to air certain sporting events so they raised the price. Xfinity figured it couldn't make BeIn a pay channel because there's a small audience that watches these particular events. Since Xfinity wouldn't make a lot money after covering the expense, they decided not to renew.

beIN is out of Directv..
they direct to viewers to directvpromise.com
Directv cites "value", in other words, they don't want to pay for beIN's content.

Yea I just noticed DirecTV lost it.

It'll be back in a few weeks.

I would not bet the farm on that idea, they still are arguing with a few sport franchises after many years.

I can't speak to those. Of the disputes that I paid any iota of attention to, they all resolved in a couple of weeks.

I recall when DTV came out with their own Weather Channel, for example.

There was also another one, just can't recall the details of exactly which one.

But it was something big like Fox or something. Big TV ads against each other. Websites, news articles.

BeIN is, apparently, covering one of the largest soccer leagues. For soccer folks, it's a Big Deal.

As always, these are meetings of irresistible force against an immovable object. Both companies using their dominant positions in their space to bonk on each other.

But in the end, it's a net win to both parties. They just have to hash out the details. DTV claims they're trying to protect the consumers. I can't speak to either parties claims or goals.

I expect them to figure it all out in a few weeks.

FYI for anyone who hasn't been able to watch MGP, WSBK, and MA on beinsports on comcast:

Sling TV
sling.com

Was quick and easy to set up

Set it up just before Sonoma for just that reason, wish I'd done it sooner. Can watch live on computer or phone, for $5 extra I have DVR so can watch whenever I want.

Sling Orange $25
Sports Extra $5
Cloud DVR $5
Total $35/month

Also the other classes are shown on motoamerica facebook live, and available to watch on motoamericas homepage or youtube channel

I’m going to call directv, sit on hold for thirty minutes or so, tell them to cancel my sports package if they don’t work it out with beIN. Already canceled my Sunday Ticket. Getting very close to cutting the cord altogether.

I doubt it; I'm dropping the special "sports" package that gave me BeIN TV. Why pay extra $14 a month for it if it's mostly soccer/etc. sports I don't watch anyway? I only got it for BeIN...racing.

They suck! :twofinger

Same here. The only reason I got the sports package was for the motorcycle racing. They sold me something, then deleted the reason for my purchase. I too have cancelled my sports package. I just wish we weren't locked into a two year contract with xfinity. Bait and switch?

I heard about this and didn't pay too much attention to it until I got home and tried to watch MotoGP on AT&T.
I cried a little.
Oh the humanity.

They are on Dish TV. Saw a great MotoGP contest today....

Comcast is Satan's network, and ATT/DirectTV is Lucifer's network. I only say that from personal experience.

The Dish TV Hopper thing is fairly solid DVR, although it won't automatically jump over commercials anymore, thanks to a lawsuit.

edit: If you are a Sonic Gigibit Internet customer, they give you a discount on your Internet service for a year if you sign up with Dish TV.
That was good enough for me, and Dish TV gives you a slightly better range of cable channels, although they still have a number of purely commercial crap like the others do.
I can watch things I have recorded on my DVR, anywhere I can get a decent internet connection. They have incorporated Sling technology in to the DVR. When I was in Alaska I caught up on some things I watch and casted them to the hotel TV screen.

Why yes, many of us with homes do. Sometimes with multiple services, most of which are useless but it’s something to discuss over cocktails or the Moto forums.

Cheers!
