Hey All,

Im looking for opinions. I am considering buying a new high quality rear shock for my bike. Ive heard the Fox shock is cheaper than Ohlins, while still allowing full range of adjustments including ride height, but is there something different about the Ohlins shock than just the price and name, compared to the Fox brand?

Ohlins, Penske, Fox...in order of expense.
Would most of us mortal men be able to tell the difference when it comes down to it??? I doubt it.
They all have a wide range of adjustments and they are all used on race bikes. So far Ive seen the fox shock more often on AFM bikes...maybe because of the price Im not sure.
I personally will probably go with the Fox shock just for the money factor.
Ohlins is the top name in suspension but they are just way too expensive for most people.

not that it matters but once i get enough $ (probably at least a yr maybe 2) and if i don't total the TLR before then, i'll be getting myself a penske 2x adjustable rear shock. not quite as good as the 3x adj. but it's very well suited for twisties and the occasional trackday which is perfect for me.

where you going for the Fox? Hare Racing? I know their pricing is supposed to be ultra competitive but maybe we can get a group install discount or something? need to replace my rear shock as well, the stocker sucks on anything but tabletop surfaces. dang keith code bikes. will never be happy with mine till it's on par or better.

Are all penske shocks pretty much the same and just use different mounts for a particular bike?

they have I think two types @ lockhartphillips and everywhere else I've looked, Lindemann has one hi end penske for 1500$ that I haven't seen anywhere else eh. one other note, lindemann says a FOX shock holds up well to much abuse , better than most i.e. ohlins/penske so even @ a better price. obviously ohlins and penske rock don't get me wrong but I was happy to hear that fox are good for hard usage and rebuilding. :cool

Just got a Fox on the back of my F4i. Was customized for my weight and needed ride height, also a hell of a lot cheaper than the Ohlins. It's as/more durable and completely serviceable to last a looonnnnggg time. :teeth:teeth
PM me if you want the guys name/number that did the work for me. ;)
