This is something recent? Sounds like it's poised to destroy your marriage. If my wife got "born again" like that and there were kids in the mix, I'd be way pissed.

Kindergarten is, what, age 5 or 6? That is a world of difference to 11. 11 yr olds are on the cusp of puberty, and some early bloomers are already there. Many boys in particular have already started searching out sexual material out of curiosity, and these days they certainly aren't limited to the underwear section of the Sears catalog. Then you factor in the peer pressure of a large group setting. Inappropriate shit happening isn't only a possibility, it's closer to a certainty unless the group is properly supervised.

Oops, I was wrong. My apologies.

11 is actually a year past the average age for starting puberty for white & hispanic kids...black kids start it a year or 2 earlier than that.

I'd want to see a WRITTEN protocol for chaperones, be sure they are from married couples, and know that they will be AWAKE and AWARE for the duration. It's been about ten years since I was responsible for young teens and I remember how horny they are.

It has been about 3 years now i believe, and theres no chance it will ruin the marriage. we have been happily married nearly 19 years and she knew my issues with religion going into it.:thumbup

amzingly they pretty much agree with most of the people here in that it's no big deal as long as there are adults and seperate sleeping areas.
 
I've got an 11 year old. I'd need additional info before I'd render a decision.
  • How many kids in attendance?
  • How many adults in attendance?
  • What's the ratio?
  • Do I know any of the kids and the adults?
Once I was comfortable with the people attending and ratio of kids/adults, I'd prefer to see adults sleeping in and around the kids. Not separately. If I or my spouse still had concerns and my kid was still insistent about attending, I'd volunteer or insist that I be allowed to chaperone.

At the very least I'd inspect the environment upon arrival. If I wasn't comfortable with the situation I might leave my son there, but arrange to pick him up late that evening. He could always return early in the morning to have breakfast with everyone.
 
It will be fine, remind her that the youth groups in almost all churches have coed lock-ins. Same thing. But then again I am a chaperone to all of them since I am the one that is usually putting them together. :laughing

Girls will be texting each other and giggling the whole time :laughing Have a movie available and coffee so some parents can stay up. That's 5th and 6th grade age, nothing to worry about. Boys are still trying to impress other boys at that age especially of video games are there.
 
at my daughters 11 y/o birthday party the boys spent most of the time under the kitchen table smelling each other feet and laughing. the girls congregated together played some game and talked about how grossed out they were..
 
Please remember that if an 11 year old is seeking sex it can occur anytime during the day when there are no chaperones around to interfere.

Sleep overs are not the only opportunity kids have to explore their sexuality.

I actually got my first chance for sex at age 11 with a 13year old russian chick at something like a "sleep over". But unlike the other 13year old boy there I did not know what to do so I spent the next 5years cursing the gods for a missed opportunity :laughing

If there's a good ratio of kids to chaperones, and the chaperones are staying up all night, then I'd be fine with it.
Your wife is completely over-reacting... and at some point down the road, PJF or not, she's just going to have to accept that her "little angel" is going to be having sex... after trying to for a really long time...
 
I will always remember a missed opportunity when i was around 11 or 12 at a hotel on a family vacation in Europe. Some older chick around 13 had gotten drunk and somehow we happened to end up all alone for awhile in her hotel room (she and her family were on the same bus tour), she started showing me her puss and wanting me to touch it, i got scared like and ran away like a Dubbington. 6 months to a year or so later when my penis and i became best friends, i was kicking myself in the ass for not jumping on that.
