Opinions on Dyna Beads for tire balance?

I have dyna beads in both front & rear with no wheel weights; runs very smoothly up to the ton and beyond. Are the beads working better than lead weights? Do they work at all? I don't know, I think so, but from what I've heard modern tires are made well enough to not require balancing.

I just don't know

I used them on my 37" mud terrain tires. No more kilogram of stick on weights to lose and seemed to work flawlessly for my application. On my cars, the hammered on weights works well enough and are included in the purchase price, so it's all good. Have never tried them on a bike though.

They did work for my specific application though.

I have a spray which repels elephants. That stuff works flawlessly. I haven’t tested in in Africa yet, but I’m sure it would work fine.

beads or whatever inside a tire works. truck drivers did it all the time.

I used airsoft BBs in over 50 moto tires before I started balancing and using stick on weights.

you gotta clean the surface well for weights. I just noticed my car wheels lost a few of them based on the glue residue. good thing they are using the same brand of weights I use on my moto wheels!

my local america's tire is staffed with a bunch of numbskull kids.

and I ride pretty hard.

Make sure your brakes are in good working order. As far a balancing wheels it's unnecessary 99% of the time, unless you're running a dualsport with rim locks or doing trackdays.

Anybody working in a shop with a spin balancer? Should be able to tell yes or no. Check first without, fill with beads and re check. ??

Years ago, I worked in a shop with a spin balancer. It worked great, could balance to the gnats ass. Out of curiosity, I checked the balance on several tires at their time of replacement that I knew I had balanced on the machine, to find that they were no longer in balance. I guess tire wear wasn't even due to brake slides, tire/rim run out, going over a rise that temporarily lifts the wheel, or phases of the moon. So I guess even the best balance job doesn't last the life of the tire. I still balance mine on a static balancer just 'cuz.

I just use a Harbor Freight wheel balancer and HF weights does the trick and I don't have to pay for balancing. =p
