How many ways are we going to be able to say what a stupid and thoughtless thing the op did. I'm just curious what this thread is gonna turn into by page 35 when this things goes into the sink.:Popcorn

What mutated beast will rise from the radioactive sludge?? Stay tuned!!

Fuck the bubble. I'm a total freak when it comes to personal space, I can barely cope with shaking hands with people or hugs from my family members, I get all weird and flinchy-- but on the back of a bike I'm gonna hang on like a goddamn limpet, cause I hate dying even worse.
See, you're my kinda passenger! :thumbup
I've only taken a passenger a couple times myself, but I really preferred it if they hung on to me tight enough that I could actually feel it through my jacket so I could tell for sure they really were hanging on and secure. Also seemed to help keep them more oriented with me as a unified mass, rather than having them flopping around independently back there. I know when the bike is going to move, so my posture can help support the passenger who can't anticipate the braking and accelerating like I can.

Yup, that's about how I figure it. If they hang on, you start to move together as one.

This is depressing. After the Sharp Park Road thread, I thought Jack had started to show a little but of maturity. Obviously, nothing has changed. Jack, you should honestly give up riding. You are a danger to yourself and others. How many 75 MPH + accidents on the street do you think you get to have before luck runs out?

Jack,

I wouldn't take anyone for a ride unless my number 1 concern was that person's safety.

It wouldn't matter if I was driving a car or riding a bike. As the person behind the controls, I am responsible for that person's safety.

I know I am 100% responsible for her injuries. I just wanted people to see this and know that if 1 of these factors was changed (she said she could have held on if she wasn't tipsy, if I gave her a second warning tap after slowing down, etc) everyone would have gone home safe.

What you think is "factors" which led to her fall is really what made you think it was ok to fuck around.

Anyone responsible would think of a 3am ride after drinks is, "boy this is a bad situation to push it, so I am going to ride safely or just drive".

But if you think just because you've done wheelies with her before so she know to hold on, or she shouldn't have had so much to drink before getting on your bike, then you weren't thinking at all about her safety.

You were just thinking it would be cool to do a wheelie with a bitch on back at 3am.

The gut wrenching feeling I had for the first few hours after she fell was the worst in my life. And I admit I cried: when I was riding to the apartment house where she was going to stay the night, and later when she was screaming in pain while in the bathroom trying to clean herself and her friend was applying bandages.

On BARF, you will hear lots of differing opinions. For example, I find it amazing that Gnarly Cranium blames the passenger. Maybe the passenger should have known better to trust you in that circumstance, but as soon as you start your bike, you are the only one in control of your and her safety.

But if you feel bad now, why don't you explain yourself to your passenger's mother?

See if the woman who gave birth and raised her daughter will accept your explanation that she should have moved her hands from the tank to your torso is the reason why her daughter will be scarred for life.

That is why I am responsible when I take people for rides. I'm not gaining any brownie points by riding safe, but I don't want to have to explain to my passengers or our friends and family that I rode like a douchebag and hurt someone.

Shit people... he cried about it and posted on BARF about it... what more does he need to do? :trolleyes

There's nothing more we need to do for them since they will soon take themselves out... :party

I think that ship has sailed. The thread has 2,888 views as of three seconds ago.

Clearly.. the OP has never been arrested convicted and put in Jail.. and lost all liberty.. Otherwise I think he'd be a little more tight lipped.. it must seem like a game to him.. our personal freedom..

The Marina rights don't only apply to being arrested.

From WIKI..

"(hence the so-called "Miranda rights"), and makes a knowing, intelligent and voluntary waiver of those rights"

Well.. minus 'intelligence and knowing'.. leaves us with voluntary... The first two requirements seem to be optional.. beccause one wouldn't knowly and intelligently give up information to incrimanate his or her self. (unless they're a dippdading ding..)

Let's review.. and become more familare with our rights.. while I narriate.

"You have the right to remain silent.(ahhh) Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.(this is a no shitter) You have the right to speak to an attorney.(and keep your mouth shut) If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you.(do you really want a PD?) Do you understand these rights as they have been read to you?" (clearly the OP has zero experience)

I find it amazing that Gnarly Cranium blames the passenger.

I don't. I believe the point was that BOTH individuals made poor choices. The ultimate resposibility lands on the rider, but there should be some accountability as far as WHO she decides to trust her life with.

I agree with some previous posts. Let them get married and endo-off into the sunset together. Just don't let them breed.
That would be one dumb kid.

I once came across a guy in full gear that was all perfectly color matched for maximum posing. His girl was wearing stripper heals, daisy dukes, tank top, and a damn nice helmet.

I could not resist. I asked him if he still would want to f*ck her after she came out of the meat grinder.

Just cruise by a UC campus and pick up an undamaged replacement.

Most of the posts in this thread are people carrying on. People need to calm down and relax. Did you read the post or just skim it and gather enough evidence to start the witch hunt.

The guy had a beer or two over many hours=Not Drunk. Not that this is a good thing to do but legally not drunk people.

The girl rides with him often and likes fast rides and wheelies= she understands the situation and should know how to hang on.

Yes the guy should be more careful with passengers and yes he should be more cautious with drinking and operating a vehicle. Lesson learned.

Move along.

Like most of you don't speed or pop a wheelie every now and again.

This.

I mean, you gotta give JTS props for literally being the guy that daughters get warned about. :laughing

But the truth is: he didn't force her to get on the back of the bike, she made that choice willingly and apparently will choose to do it again in the future...for her, the risk was worth the reward, apparently. Anyone who rides regularly understands that the simple choice to ride a motorcycle is often summed up in exactly the same fashion...

Here is a secret, most women that I date (and maybe yours as well) fit into a certain type. You can pick up some female cut cordura gear that may not fit perfectly, but has some adjustment. It isn't ideal, but makes it alot safer for her.

It is also very fun to help her put it on:thumbup

This post would be a lot less creepy without Ron Jeremy in his avatar. :wow

There are so many :facepalm s here (not just the OP) that... I'm not saying anything else. :twofinger

If he wants to sell his CBR I get dibs. I could use a parts bike. :rofl
