Un, the story gets even more insane, halfway through he breaks a rim and during repair the bike fell over while he was on it into a ditch or something and broke his collarbone and messed up his shoulder

He rode another 70+ days with broken collarbone and fucked up shoulder rotator, and now plans to have surgery to fix it.

Ending was strong, he chose to do that (continue to ride in pain) vs the cause he was riding for, those individuals don't get a choice
