The three screws that hold on the chrome cover shook loose... It fell off while riding, got run over, and became pavement art.

:-/

Oh well, at least nothing functional feel off and nobody was hurt.

If I were to Google to look for a replacement, what is this part called?

So far that the easiest to navigate site I've seen. Thanks for the pointer, crjunkee.

...but I'm not sure I care $132.09 worth.

What's the harm in riding without this cover?

Tom, you're new...so just FYI, this section is reserved strictly for analyzing crashes in a more stringent and more tightly moderated kind of forum structure. This thread will get moved soon, probably to general or the garage where it belongs, since you're asking for part identification help.

In the future, just take a sec to think about a coherent title (one that would encompass the thread to everyone, not just make sense to you), along with what your main goal is in the thread...that will help you post it in the correct sub-forum.

You shouldn't have any problems riding without it. You may want to check ebay though to find a cheap used item.

Pound it straight again and re-attach, bike art. The end of a 2 X 4 and a rubber mallet will get it flat enough to get some screws in it.

When you wash your bike, check for things that might be loose. Put a wrench on the bolts you can see. It will save your ass someday.

Fixed!

Thanks for the eBay suggestion Crjunkee.
