A few of you had requested the build process for my 1s. This is a short excerpt from a book I'm writing for myself about the process:

2026 Arch 1s Build Process – Bike #23

I flew down to Arch on May 15, 2025, to view and test ride a 1s. I was concerned about two elements. First, the heat since it is an air-cooled 2032cc engine. Second was the handling and weight. I rode in LA heat on the freeway, which was bumper to bumper and split lanes following Gard Hollinger. We were en route to the beach. I was shocked to find out that the heat was not an issue, and although the bike didn’t handle as quickly as my race bikes, I had no expectations of such. It handles well, and the brakes were phenomenal.

I was sent regular CAD-developed images of my bike. I had sent them several mock-ups, which I developed. My last career was as a commercial photographer, so I was a bit familiar with how to mock up an idea. I found out after getting the bike that the one man who assembled it is a third-generation US Navy veteran. When he saw the bike from the graphics department, he insisted on building it. I can see why. His USN job was to wire submarines. And as I look at the wiring, I can see why it is so precise and tidy.

I was amazed at how the CAD drawings completely matched the final product. I’ve done AirB&Bs, early online dating, and experienced firsthand how photographs often DO NOT match the real thing. No such case here.

This was my uncle’s jet. In those times, jets were not assigned to a pilot due to how the flight decks were configured. His favorite jet was 413, which is why I had his number painted on the headlight housing. My friend who graduated from TOP GUN in 2022 said that flying off carriers like that would scare the shit out of him today. He ended up leading his squadron in the same one as my uncle, The Black Knights.

Here is the story about his bravery and why he was awarded a medal for saving his squadron leader.

The bike took 10 months and 25 days to complete. As of this writing, there are 23 Arch 1s bikes in the world. And 79 KRGT-1s. My 1s was one of the first to get the titanium Akrapovic exhaust rather than the carbon Yoshimura can. My book will contain all of the build imagery Arch took during its construction. Way too many for something like this. A special experience to honor my family's history, as well as my own riding history.

Thanks @budman, nice to know our relatives fought in the same era. I am especially proud since all of my relatives were put into prison for being of Japanese ancestry during WWII. After getting out, Dad was a tank commander, my uncle a Navy aviator, and my maternal uncles were all in the 442nd. I found out 35 years after my dad's death that he was recruited into the CIA, which makes so much sense now. No photos of him in the Army. I wrote to the army, and they sent me his records, the ones that still exist, since many were lost in a fire. He taught me how to kill a guard dog with my bare hands, survive in the desert, what to eat, where to find water, etc. "Dad, how do guard dogs get into a tank?" "Just shut the fuck up and pay attention, boy, it may save your life one day!"

Super respect to your dad. Sounds like a great dad for sure and hero.
The bike is amazing
Will it be at the Arch pits or anywhere else on display at Moto America / Laguna Seca ?

@PaulR, I had planned on riding there, but decided against it. I don't want to keep my bike overnight anywhere. Arch will have a 1s there and some owners from LA are riding up.

The photos are from last year at Moto America / Laguna Seca
I definitely hoping Arch can win this year…..
They have great riders and are some of my favorites to win….

Got to see the beauty in person. The attention to detail and quality of this bike is off the hook awesome. Great to learn some about its cool owner as well. Thanks Mark.
