NICE!!! How far south did you go?!

Road up Mines Road late this morning! This past fall, on the Alameda side, numerous sections of bad asphalt have been repaired. Wow, couldn't believe it, Mines is the cleanest I've seen it in years! No sand, gravel, or rocks in the corners all the way to the county line and up to the Junction. Some "road poppers" (suicidal squirrels) were out and about 'cause it was a nice day, but no biggie. The only cautionary section when you're heading up would be, if it's been a really cold night and you're riding early morning, is the 20 or so yards before you get to the first big rock outcropping and the hard right hander. This is before the BSA camp. It's in the shade the whole day and was pretty damp, so at night it could freeze over. The ride back down was sweet knowing the road was clean, well except for a couple cars and two trucks cutting some corners.
First stop was at the 11 mile mark.

I expected a winter water crossing at the 17 mile marker, yep water about 1"-2" deep. The good thing was the three large pot holes had been patched.

And a little further up things were "OK" at the N3 corral.

Didn't stop at the 19 mile water crossing, will catch it on the way down. At the county line the water level in the creek was low and no signs of it flooding
over the road from the last rains we had.
Rolled up to the Junction and all three gates were closed and locked. Only a Jeep GC parked up by the building and no sign of life. The last time I was up there
and the place was actually open was early June this past summer. The "DOOR" had been stripped of all it's stickers and a new one added. :( As I waited for my $4.00 can of Pepsi I asked about the stickers. The guy behind the counter replied "We removed them because they were too offensive". Ooooh K.

The mail boxes and the ladies from the county library (books on wheels) making their monthly stop and a few people picking up their books or dvd movies.

Last stop of the day at around the 11 mile marker. Super nice day for a ride. Only saw one other moto on Mines, he passed me when I made my first stop on the way up.
