Does the piston moves smoothly hand cranked? play on rod bearings?..

Must be that full pipe.. Let me know if you need for me to toss it for you.

the piston does move around a bit on the rod bearing.....side to side at least, kinda wiggles around a bit when I move it around. Not sure what is acceptable, never done this before. :(
I'll get some help and get back to abusing it asap.:ride

"Scott, you should get a 2nd bike to use in the event of similar catastrophy.

LOL -- funny that you mention it -- I was thinking about getting a 250 or something -- just to hold me down when tragedy strikes =))

are you talking about this play? I was sure that what it sounded like.

it's not quite as bad as that one, no up down movement, but you can wiggle it side to side. :(

Although, on the freeway, pretty sure I ran it out of gas, coasted to a stop, tipped it on its side to put the gas on the left side, and it kinda started...kinda....then stopped, and wouldn't even turn over.
I need to get the starter cover off. tried a big impact screwdriver and no luck yet.

Mike, side to side is ok. up and down is a problem. the piston was not hitting the valves so I dont think that is your problem

Yeah.. You need to replace the bearings. as mentioned.. It should very slightly slide side to side on the bearing but you have lateral movement.

But it should not cause your bike to stall out.. It does not look like anything was damaged.. besides the bearing.

Here are the 4 shots I took yesterday.
