I’m looking to put together a weekend ride and want to explore some fun Bay Area roads I haven’t tried yet.
What routes do you recommend for good scenery and low traffic this time of year?

Where are you based? That would be helpful for sure so we can suggest rides that are more convenient to your location. I find that getting up early means traffic is less of an issue. :)

Also, how long of a ride are you looking for?
Do you want a lunch stop in between?

Welcome to BARF from the East Bay.

Here's a thread that gives you everything, everywhere, all at once...

Part of the issue you'll have is doing it on the weekend when there is a lot more traffic on the good roads.

One ride that I did a couple of times was to go completely around San Francisco Bay. It's about 250 miles as I remember it (could be shorter, I'm old). If you do it clockwise you can do it with no bridge tolls. String together roads like Redwood, Palomares, Calaveras, cross the valley on 237, Highway 9, Highway 35, Highway 1, across the Golden Gate Bridge, then whatever roads look interesting on a map to get around San Pablo Bay. Part of that will be on Highway 37, then find roads to get through Contra Costa County. You can start this loop anywhere along the route.

If I still lived in the area, I would do that ride again.
