New upright freezer
I have had a Frigidaire upright freezer for more than forty years. It has worked great the
whole time until recently when the door seal stopped sealing properly. Air gets in from the
bottom and makes what looks like an upsidedown snowbank at the top. I tried tracking down a
new seal to fix it - it still works after all - but couldn't be sure if the stuff listed from
Google searches would work. A local applicance repair company said that they couldn't fix it.
Okay, maybe we got our money's worth out of that one - time to buy a new one. But this time
frost free so we don't have to go to the bother of defrosting the thing two or three times a
year. The place I bought it offered free delivery to my garage. They charge if they set it up,
but I can do that. So here it is delivered, after taking off all of the packing material.
And here it is ready to go. Just need to wait a few hours for it to get properly cold, then
transfer everything from the old one to the new one.
I figure I can sell the old one on Craigslist for twenty bucks, explaining exactly what
condition it's in, and have someone else haul it off for me. Who knows, with a proper seal
maybe it could last another forty years.
