Sitting and waiting for imaging of my neck. It only took 8 months to get this appointment. Winning!

Interview complete, it sounds like it felt like it went well and from everything I have heard it sounds like a great fit for me, but, who knows these days...

Sorry to hear, G. Hope they can patch her up and get her vertical soon.

We need to wrap our aging parents in bubble wrap. Inside of a week, my dad has cut himself twice, badly enough to need wound closures and also taken two falls. Not sure if I can get him to change his habits so this doesn't keep happening.

With what? Kitchen knives? Garden tools? Garage tools? Not to sound too insensitive. Twice in a week sounds like a problem that should be taken seriously. No clue how to change that situation. It's not like elderly folk are usually known for changing their habits when it comes to things they used to do well but can't efficiently do for themselves anymore.

These cuts didn't seem to have much in common, other than not paying attention to what he was doing. Here's the backdrop:

About 40 years ago, he was hit by a car while crossing the street. Broke both legs badly below the knees; right leg in seven places and the left leg in about 20 (really). This has been the gift that keeps on giving orthopedically. Today he can walk short distances with a cane, but uses a walker much of the time. His legs hurt and his balance is poor.

The first cut happened a week ago, when my stepmom asked him to toss something out of the kitchen door into the garage, so she could dispose of it a bit later. He took the item and tossed it out the door. On the door jamb, there were two square magnets mounted to the door jamb for some reason. They stuck out from the jamb a bit and he raked his had across the corners of the magnets and ended up with two parallel lacerations. I subsequently removed the magnets.

The second cut was from part of his walker. I have no idea how this happened. I can't think of how one would cut themselves on any part of the walker, but I'll see them tomorrow and maybe someone can show me.

I think that his attention gets pulled into just keeping his balance and some of these other things happen because he can't quite walk and chew gum at the same time any more.

Given both of those incidents, it's a blessing you still have him alive. They both sound like things people generally don't walk away from. (No pun intended.)

Friday the 13th triple. I didn't even realize that was today. It's a good thing I did my grocery shopping yesterday. I wouldn't want to walk under a ladder or piss off a black cat or whatever other superstition.

Does make me think of the time before I started working from home, our huge TVs in the office break room all had DirecTV subscriptions and so I put on TBS or TNT or FX, whatever channel it was that was marathoning all the teribad Jason Vorhees movies.
