I know this and I'm not pretending otherwise. The dog is innocent and she deserves better.

Advice and help from friends in a dire situation is how we get through things like, yes? I may not be doing all the right things but I'm trying to get to the best solution. What I've said and anyone else that has read me venting and explaining the issue, we know what the right answer is. I just have to pull the trigger, no pun intended, and do it. The dog needs to be somewhere else, not here. There is no love she wants and needs here for her. I know that makes me sound like an asshole.

I'm going to be honest with you dude. Yes, it does make you sound like an asshole. If you truly have no place in your heart for a dog, I can't empathize with that. I don't understand it at all and yes, it does make me think less of you. This is supposed to be like all of those movies where the big tough main character kills some guy anbd ends up with his crappy mean dog. They put up with each other for a few days and then they break through and become best friends.

I don't think you've given her a chance. You won't let her in your room. You won't walk her. You do the bare minimum for her. And all she wants is your love. That's it bro. You really don't need to do much else. Just give her some of that love and she will be your lifelong friend. Your shitty brother has nothing to do with it.

If you can't do that than you are doing the dog a massive disservice. I don't really agree that a pound would be better. She is getting hr same level of care at your place but it's quiet. That said, she isn't being given an opportunity to be found by someone else and loved.

If you want my opinion, give her a chance. Forget about your brother. Forget he ever existed. Pretend the dog belonged to an old dead friend. Whatever, give her a chance. Then work on finding her a permenent home. Every moment you spend teaching her manners and just giving her attention will make her a better dog, for you or whomever ends up with her.

Dogs generally want to please humans. The training is about teaching them how to accomplish that using positive reinforcement. For the cost of a bag of dog treats, and 10-15 minutes once or twice a day, you should be able to make some real progress in improving her behavior around you.
That being said, training a dog can be a challenge even if you're into it. If you have no interest in the animal, it may be near impossible to make any progress, IDK.
But you should do something. Either attempt to train and bond with her, or get her to someone that will. Just complaining about the situation on barf isn't doing either one of you any good (and it's been quite a while.)
 
I appreciate all of the advice you guys have given me on this issue. Truly.

If I wanted you to just blow smoke up my ass, I could have said things differently or just not say anything at all but I spoke my truth and I've gotten good advice about how to better deal with it. I appreciate it and I'm sorry I've been dropping the ball here. And I'm sorry that's made you feel less of me as a person. I'll do better.

Rescue animals are always a crap shoot but if you really want to help the critter out you usually succeed, but if don't want to help the animal failure is almost assured.

It was a Schwinn Super Sport I bought as a kid in 1969 with lawn mowing money.

Frozen stem bearings, 10 speed with a one piece crank and drop handle bars.

Now it has a 3 piece crank, flatter bars and a 1x7 shifter arrangement that actually works.

Would have been smarter to buy a new analog bike but you know, nostalgia and whatnot.
