My best interaction ever...
Customer "I've blown two tranny's in my civic, but that's when I lived in the city."
Co-worker "You should buy a van."
:rofl

I couldn't believe he said it, the customer didn't get it, I had to keep a straight face.

It seems like I spent half my adult life trying to explain maintenance and warnings lights to people.

it seems it has worked out for you though :) it's just a job . did the job, retired :dunno

"My low oil light is on,
my car(s) don't have a low light. :x it has a low PRESSURE , light.

Customer "I've blown two tranny's in my civic, but that's when I lived in the city."

I agree this guy is over the top, however. :laughing

It is however a SIGNIFICANT chore sometimes, to go to a dealer or MECHANIC!! all the trouble to go there and back.

so, due to bud's post about oil or filters, I actually realized I may still have the SNOW-air engine filter in my car... so I just went out and changed it with a more regular one. :dunno (y) (in case you don't know what's that, here is a picture not from today: regular filter on top, used foam(snow) filter on the bottom.

The fleece layer is to resist moisture/snow, and block larger debris

Big differences in the business from when I started in the 70's (mechanics) and now (technicians). Nowadays everything is the shops responsibility and the customer "is always right"

Back then your mechanic was someone you had a relationship with and showed some respect. If you got crazy like people do now, you'd be told to get the fuck out and don't come back. We'd just push your car out onto the street.

The customer had some responsibility to keep track of their shit. If you had a starter go out, and it was under warranty, you better bring in a receipt and tell me, or you're gonna pay again.

If you ever told a mechanic to "hurry up", they'd put their tools down, go out back and have a smoke... or three.

A different time... I had so much fun working with those old timers.

"My low oil light is on, but I've been ignoring it cuz I'm not at the mileage on the sticker yet."
"My service engine light is on, but I've been ignoring it cuz I had a service done a while ago." :rolleyes

My wife’s best friend ruined the engine n her Volvo because she thought the oil warning light meant her oil level was low and she figured she’d get around to adding some when she had time.

Oh yeah, and back then every time you got gas someone (like me) checked your oil. Now when I go to the gas station I never see a hood go up (except mine)

Breaking news...
"The Taylor farms shredded lettuce has been found to be contaminated by sewage"
So much for me ever going out to eat again.

I'm in complete denial, actually.

... unless it's about deciphering internet posts. Took me two tries, but I think you're complaining that your EGGPLANTS ARE DEAD because Gophers ate them.

It wasn't that you, ate an eggplant for breakfast, nor were you mashing An Eggplant while blokaying my post. :x

The irony is thick in here...

It's like asking someone for the recipe to their Dill bread.

"welllll, first you grab your dill dough...."
