I just bought one of those all in one printers, an Epson Artisan 800, with the scanner/copier/fax options.
I also had a Command Communications switch sitting around that routes calls to the appropriate device, thus negating the need for a 2nd phone line for a fax. When I last used this device it was used with dial-up. I followed the install instructions for DSL. It said to intall 2 inline 8K filters before going into the switch.
I have the initial 2-Wire filter connected to the wall jack that splits the line for a DSL modem and phone. I kept the modem line connected and installed Z-Block filter/splitter to the phone jack on the 2-Wire filter. On the phone jack of the Z-Block filter, I connected the phone line to the switch and connected the phone and fax lines to appropriate switch inputs.
Everything works, except receiving faxes. It can fax out, but for some reason, it won't route an incoming fax signal.
Does the type of filter matter? Should I not use a filter/splitter? Does every phone in the house also need a filter.
