*#@** RACCOONS!! :mad

More terror on the barge last night. I need to learn how to string short videos together to present a more fluid picture of the little one.

I hosted a short video on YouTube and got 1800 hits in 15 minutes maybe we should commoditize the little f$$let’s and start encouraging them.

I think you might be on to something. Do you use the barge for anything or does it spend most of its time moored? If the latter, there could be worse uses than turning it into a home for the little buggers and making some coin off them at the same time.

Of course then you'll have to give them names, maybe put collars on them with their names, and generally be nice to the little rascals.

Barge works but not so much anymore. FWIW, the little guys were gone for almost a month. They come to "here kitty kitty."

The fact that they don't break into the boat anymore is probably due to risidual pepper spray and some glowy eyed Halloween decorations.

Profit.

There are 2 that would like to be pets. Not happening! On a positive note they have stopped breaking into the boat. That said, their new trick is to knock and I’m debating if I should reward the courtesy or meet them with a baseball bat.

I hate to tell ya but at this point I think they're yours...lol. Time to get collars, shots at the vet, and start training the little buggers.

Thjis story has a very sad ending. Out of the 4 baby racoons one always came back. Spicy was VERY polite, he would get a small rock or piece of gravel and knock on the window until we came out. He would just sit so quietly, sometimes tabbing on our shoes or leg as we sang to him. He wasn't that interested in food since he made a good living cleaning the underside of our dock at low tide.
Last May Spicy showed up with a wire tie so tightly pulled around his little front right hand his toes were broken. We took him to Wildcare where he spent six weeks in the hospital. He was released back in June all better with full functionality.

He was a regular almost every day coming by to say hello before getting into the mud to work the docks. He disappeared in January for a few weeks. He showed up stumbling a couple Friday's ago in very rough shape. My other half picked him up and placed him into a makeshift bed where his breathing evened out and he seemed to relax. He passed away that evening. I brought his little body back to Wildcare where they confirmed it was indeed our Spicy. His foot was nearly severed and he was emaciated. It appears that he may have been trapped and mistreated.
This little raccoon has forever changed our impression of these miscreants. Believe it or not we miss him.

RIP Spicy, you were a great ambassador to your species.

Spicy Raccoon ambassador to humans. Songs must be written of his deeds to be sung when all great warriors gather to drink and tell tales.
