so after taking pics (or trying too atleast) at the AMA races today i realized my camera is teh suck....good for close ups and what not since its just a regular digital camera, nothing fancy but i couldnt tell who anyone was after looking at the pics....they seemed so far away and it was zoomed in all the way. id prefer not to spend more than $500 right now. :thumbup

well do u want a slim camera to put in ur pocket, an advanced point and shoot, or a dslr body?

if u dont mind the bulk, id suggest a canon s3 IS. its an Advanced P&S. itll get u great pics.

no i dont want one i can fit in my pocket....thats what i have now. i want one i can adjust manually and change the lens'

Get a Canon Hayabusa. I guarantee you won't outgrow it in 6 months.

Failing that get a Xsi and get the lens that fit the purpose you want to use them for.

so are these the only 2 that are in my budget?

well Canon is the best... :)

i think for what you want to spend, a used or refurbished Canon will be good. leaves u with a lil left oer for lenses.

if u want a good starter/walk around lens, pick up a canon 50mm f1.8. about 90 bucks. takes damn good pics for the $. then save up and buy a zoom lens that fits ur needs.

I just bought a Digital Rebel XT for 175 at Sears. It was a open box, but it was still 298 before the discount, and my wifes employee discount. Also, you can get a new one if you go to Target for 349 on clearance. If you want to get into the DSLR game, it's never been cheaper to do so. You won't find it on any of there web sites, but look around in stores. Their out there.

The lenz is what's going to cost you -- depending on how powerful of a zoom.
