I picked up a nail and want to plug this. The tire is new, with 1,000 miles. What plug kit / repair kit can you recommend?

Links appreciated.

Thanks!IMG_0422.jpegIMG_0422.jpegIMG_0425.jpeg

I've used various types over the years, sticky strings, mushroom plugs etc.

Then I read about Nealy tire repair kits and ordered some. Really really good stuff. Especially if the hole is large or jagged. These things work and they last.

And one of these for airing up

Stop and Go is what I use primarily. I also carry a Dyna Plug. And for conventional type plugs, I use Safety Seal. And you should always have a quality electric pump with you.

All the plug types are available on Amazon. The pumps are available at Aerostich.

And I am still shocked that so many motorcyclists don’t carry these things with them at all times.

And you also need some needle nose pliers to pull the offending thing out of your tire.

the string plugs seem to be the easiest to use, on moto tires I generally replace fairly soon but on my truck I've run them 1000s of miles.

Slime or any brand will work. I'm close to Walmart, but O'Reilly, AutoZone carry similar.

Minimal space in the saddle bag (7" × 5" × 4" )

At home, and especially for car tires, I'll use a T-handle version instead of the screwdriver for better purchase. On the moto, I'll take compactness over ease of use.

ST Guy is correct.

Stop & Go is the best I've used. I've never had a plug go bad or leak once properly installed.

Stop N Go

The Nealy worms don't require glue. I've opened up more then a few glue tubes from other kits to find that it was dried out.

I can put a plug in for the Mushroom type (pun fully intended). I picked up a nail in a brand new tire once, and after the swearing stopped, I popped in the plug. It was there for several thousand miles.

Thanks, all. I’ve got the kit ordered and it should arrive in a day or two. This will be a good test. I’m in the Bay Area so I’m close to plenty of places that can help, if I need it. I want to test this to see if I can do a similar fix when miles from anyone / anywhere.

FYI some of the Iron Butt riders say they’ve done this plenty of times, and that, together with your inputs give me confidence that this should hopefully go well.

We shall see. Thanks again.
