Recommendations on local dirt bike engine re-builders

Just wondering if anyone had any good recommendations on places that I could get my dirt bike engine rebuilt? I saw some places online where I can ship them my motor and they'll rebuild it, anyone try one of these services before? The rebuild doesn't look too hard, but just been getting lazier and lazier as I get older.

Also for normal trail and a little bit of mx riding, what do you estimate the time to rebuild a top end is for a 2015 YZ250F? I hear some say 50hr (which seems like crazy) and some say 200 hrs. Any advice here?
 
There Engines Only, I tried to get a hold of them to see if they could make me a custom throttle cable and I could never get them to answer the phone or reply to an email unfortunately =/

Evolution motorcycles could do it. They did a piston swap on my DR650 they did a great job bike is still running. Cept the front of the cylinder head developed a leak after awhile because they nut came loose but it's probably not their fault.

Maybe try Six Five O Racing in Belmont. He has done a few things for me and been very reasonably priced (not an engine rebuild, but he does a lot of those).

You could run that question by them too as they would have a good idea of what hours the bikes they are working on.

For your YZ250F, number one thing for great life is a clean and well oiled air filter. Second would be proper oil level and reasonable frequency of changing the oil.

Most guys that are really into maint are checking 100 hrs or sooner. 200 hrs is probably the longest you would want to go.

But I'm sure there are guys that ride them for years, no hour meter, and do nothing until the bike is hard to start. :)

Well, OK, I know there are guys like that. I have a friend with a KTM 450, he rode it four years, changed oil & filter and kept his air filter clean, but never checked valve clearance, never pulled the top end off. Bike ran great for the four years, then he sold it and bought another.

Kind of a gamble doing that.
 
I've used Six-Five-0 for my RM125 rebuild. Easy to talk to, reasonably priced, and work done as promised.
 
Tim Monday give Us a call @ BRG. We can and have built all kinds of dirt bike engines. My question what do you think the whole engine needs to be rebuilt? Most case ring and Valve and your good to go. Or are there other issues

Top end? 100-150 hours easy. If you're not bouncing off the rev limit all day long, changing oil regularly, and not having hard start issues, you should be fine.
 
The average trail rider that maintains the bike will definitely be at the longer end of the spectrum. I think I like the above suggestion; start thinking about it at 100hrs and make sure to get it done by 150hrs. Somewhere in there should be fine. Bikes normally just get really slow as the top end wears, but it's the timing chain that will make you cry. You generally do them both together, but they don't wear identically, so you usually end up letting the chain go a little longer than you should and replacing the top end a little before you need to.
