Recording calls on an iPhone

Good article , but check the comments at the bottom, not all of those actually work.

:dunno Just showing that stuff is out there and trying to steer away from Crapple.

If this was me I'd just use google voice and explain to them it only records incoming calls and have them call me back. Only takes them 30 seconds. **shrug**

Cool, it's less stalker-ish than I thought. :p

But won't hour-long long calls be a huge file? You could fill up a drive rather quick doing that.

2 party consent in california

Wire Tap laws are going to make finding an app that does everything you want it to do, very difficult

Your best bet is to do it manually through the headphone jack

TapeACall Pro is really good but it announces that it is recording

Is it consent or notice? I think it might be notice. Like "hey I'm recording this call" or "this call is being recorded" once you say that it's up to the other person to say "no" or just hang up.

from my understanding, by staying on the call after a person has notified you of their intent to record, it's "implied consent" per the "reasonable person" doctrine

With single party consent, you don't have to notify the other party at all.

So you aren't looking to record random phone calls and likely have a schedule setup?

I would go this route:

This isn’t necessarily the easiest or cleanest solution, but it is extremely effective. Hardware recording of your iPhone calls involves a bit of setup, and the following equipmentL

Audio patch cable, which you plug into your iPhone headphone jack, and into a voice recorder (less than $10 on Amazon).
A voice recorder with simultaneous audio in and audio out (widely available on Amazon - including this one for under $20).
Any pair of iPhone-compatible headphones or ear buds.
Patience.

You more or less need to be expecting a call (or planning to place one) using this method – but it is fairly simple. Just plug the patch cable into the iPhone, then into the audio-in jack on the voice recorder, and plug your headphones into the headphone jack so you can hear the caller. When you place or answer the call you want to record, just hit the record button on your voice recorder, and you should be good to go!

So wait - the voice recorder would have one jack for audio in, and another jack for audio out (allowing me to listen in with headphones)?

Sounds good, except that it probably wouldn't be able to record my voice ---Just the other person's.

supposedly it captures both - I believe you have to speak into the cell phone itself while wearing headphones - not sure if the headphone/microphone that comes with it works but it might?

but I did some more thinking and remembered this

http://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Recorder-Blackberry-Bluetooth-Enabled-SpygearGadgets/dp/B007XJR9PK

it's a little pricey but it works

Tape recorder and speakerphone? :dunno
Seems like the simplest option to me. Lots of kids at my college use them to record 1-2+ hour lectures.
