Hi All,

Just wanted to ask.

I was riding home today on Millbrae Ave (foing towards El Camino).
I was slowing down for the red light and stopped before the (but really close to the line).

Then I noticed a flash then a second later another flash.

I am not too sure on how it works but am I going to get a ticket?

Thanks in Advance!

All the info on red light cams.

Generally speaking you have to be clearly in the intersection at a minimum speed when the red light is on in order to be ticketed.

if this was the camera by the bart station, then don't worry about it. that light randomly flashes at people who make complete stops. in fact, san mateo pd has told me that its just a break in period. soon they will be handing out real tickets.

That is nonsense, the traffic camera at the intersection of Rollins Rd & Millbrae Ave has been handing out tickets for more than a year.

is that the camera adjacent to the bart station?

Yes...the intersection that is at the bottom of the hill between BART and that gas station and In N Out.

It's so advanced it can get you for making a right on red without making a complete stop first.

Yup. My friend got a ticket for making a right on red without making a complete stop at least 6 months ago - same with my uncle. That camera does flash all the time; at least twice while I'm stopped at that stop light. I wonder how many of those flashes actually result in a ticket..

San mateo pd told me they weren't issuing tickets yet. I've seen the camera flash while everyone was at a complete stop in the intersection.

but if you're buddy actually received a ticket than I should correct my statement and say that the light appears to malfunction at times, but does issue citations.

That lame ass flashing bulb goes off all the time..If you did not run a light, you have nothing to worry about..They do send you a video(if you completely ran the light) from a person they actually have auditing the video..Yep, they actually pay someone with our tax dollars to watch these stupid ass vids..

Don't worry , if you did not run the light. If you went over the limit line the lights will flash and take photos thats why it takes a series to confirm that you actually went thru the intersection. But I suspect the photos was taken of other people making a right turn at that Intersection of Rollins and Millbrae Ave. I see it all the time.

land of the free....yeah right. have you really ever looked to see how many cameras are hovering around our daily lives. kinda creepy if you ask me.

Tickets are real

Sadly I need to drive to BART station in Millbrae every day. So far I got a $400 ticket saying I committed a red light voilation. I completely stopped at Millbrae and Rollins and made a right turn getting into the garage. I'm doing a trial by written declaration. Yesterday I was shot again when I got out of the garage making a left turn on Millrae Ave towards 101 when I saw the green light and proceeded. It's just RIDICULOUS. The cameras are so sensitive and keep flashing. I'm sure they help collect millions of dollars in fines. Well I'm going to the court if they don't dismiss the tickets. I won't pay for something I didn't do. How can we protest this? I'm sure a lot of people are suffering like me.

Dude, you are talking about San Mateo.. he is talking about Millbrae. Different cities. Or maybe you could clarify how San Mateo PD has anything to do with the Millbrae signal?

Um, how about looking at the pics and the video? It will clearly show if you ran it or not.
