So I haz family visiting from Chicago. What would you recommend they see, visit, experience?

Today we did Santa cruz mystery spot boardwalk pier

Let them take a walk accross the GGB, then take them to Muir Woods. After that lunch in Stinson, and then up to the top of Mt Tam.

I would recommend posting this in the sink...er...unless your relatives want to tour by motorcycle:teeth

I guess it depends what they like to do.

Hiking, sightseeing in Yosemite Valley. Beautiful and prolly uncrowded around now. Forcast is for nice weather on Th.

The pow at Squaw Valley. Or several other Tahoe resorts.

Pt reyes lighthouse. And a lil north of that the elk at tomales point.

Walk or bicycle ride around Angel Island

Elephant seals at Ano nuevo. If they're there now. And if you can get a reservation.

Wander around SF, inc maybe GG park, zoo, walk across GG bridge, etc.

MB Aquarium can be nice.
If the weather isn't terrible, it seems that the middle of the country peps like the boat tours of the bay, possibly Alcatraz.
Hearst Castle & Seal Beach.
Depends how much time and $ you want/have available.

I guess this would be better in the sink moderator? I'll pm Yana. Thanks for the suggestions so far though

I had family out here from Chicago a few weeks back:thumbup..

I'd vote for the De Young .. maybe the academy of science if there are kids and they like spending money

Walk around downtowns... Stanford, Palo Alto... if they like that kind of stuff.

Then there are the usual GG Bridge, Treasure Island in the middle of Bay Bridge, Ghiradelli, Fisherman's Wharf (walk around there)... the usual tourist stuff.

If you have time, take the ferry to Alcatraz. It's an interesting place to visit.

I haz 2-for-1 coupons for the Winchester Mystery House if ya like, they can do the Tech Museum/IMAX theater too, Santana Row...

Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum & Planetarium and their gardens; Cinequest Movie Festival going on at Camera 12 this week if they need to rest.

Carmel is gorgeous too, maybe add the 17-Mile Drive. :thumbup

Do the indoor stuff while it rains, hit the rest after Fri. ;)

Yana:banana

Sears, Laguna, THill...

Redwood, Highway 9, Alpine...

Seriously though, driving through the SC mountains, then HMB and 1 on the way to the City for something has been surprisingly cool for my visitors. If they're techy or nerdy at all I offer drive-bys of company buildings on the way to something... some of them are cool and Moffett is too. Fry's! I've had some visitors be thrilled with Fry's.

Yosemite, King's Canyon, Avenue of the Giants?

If I'm taking folks to Marin, or further north, I'll try to go by Lake Merced and Ocean Beach. Other touristy stuff: Alamo Square, Twin Peaks is always good, Haight, the Castro, cable cars, going all the way around Treasure Island is good too.

Wine tasting? SC Mts, Napa, Sonoma, Lib'Mo...

Coffee people? Peet's & then on another day North Beach...

Lots of museums (comic book museum?) ... There's a restaurant near there with old motos on the walls too...

GGB > Marin Headlands > back through the lower tunnel...

Movie people? Is there a museum in Niles?

Oh, this could seriously be the best for them: take them to a BARF event. Seeing NorCal and the BA is cool, but knowing who you're hanging out with is important.

set up a ladder with a plexiglass shield. climb to top of ladder. Proceede to take shit on plexiglass shield, with said relatives under it. Its truely a once in a lifetime experience.
