Removing fossilized bird shit from car without damaging paint?

Birds just fucking love my car, I don't know why. I take great care not to park underneath power lines, trees and other things birds perch on, and yet it seems like my car is covered in more shit than any other car on the road.

Not only that, but I'm finding a lot of it to be IMPOSSIBLE to remove! It doesn't matter how long I spray it with the high pressure sprayer at the car wash from 2 inches away, or how long i scrub it with soap... it just won't come off!

What can I do? There must be a trick to removing this shit without damaging the clear coat? It's a 2005 Ford Focus if that means anything in terms of the type of paint. Right now I just want to take up bird hunting. :mad

Ughh, I feel your pain. I just removed some tree sap that had been hiding on my quarter panel. Got to it too late and it ruined the finish. :mad Wondering if it's worth having insurance repaint the panel. Good luck.

fossilized bird shit...hmmm..

Try...
1. take a wash cloth and soak it in hot water and then put it where the poo is and let it soak in there. water hot but not too hot.
2. buy some special soap used for other things like your stove or something, and just wash the actual poo with it so it breaks it up, and then wash with your regular car soap, (use a q-tip to just zero in on the poo and not anywhere else)

+1 or high pressure sprayer with hot water

If it's been baking for more than a week then it's already damaged the clearcoat :(. I usually spray some quick detailing spray on the poop, let it sit for a minute and then gently wipe off whatever breaks up. Repeat as necessary until it's all gone. If there's clearcoat damage you can give Meguiar's ScratchX a try.

Pressurized water or hot water soak always worked for me. First will just take most of it off, the latter, you just let it soak for a while and wipe it right up.

hire a messican :rofl

cleaning poop, who the hell does that :confused

I find that very light rubbing with my hand dislodges most of the crud, and then a light go-over with a soft brush (the less pressure you put on a soft brush, the better it works) removes the rest of it.

If you have to always park where birds are going to poop on your car I would get a cheap car cover. As far as removing bird poop goes, I think everyones' suggestions are pretty good. Billy Mays probably sells something that'll work. ;)

As already posted, put a rag with hot soapy cash wash over it and let it sit till it softens, the gently mop up the poop without rubbing and try to lift it off the paint. Then run some Meguires Quick Detail over it. Prevention is really best.. keep your car waxed/sealed and when you do get pooped on, clean it off right away (I know.. easier said than done). Good luck :)

Hmmm, I've always had good luck with just a spray of Honda Polish and a bit of wait time. I found Goo-Gone works pretty well on the tree sap. Yeah, I freakin hate birds. They used to poop all over my deck until I nailed some rubber snakes to the roof. That kept them away.

Is it a Prius? It's a Prius, isn't it?

Thanks everyone, I knew I could count on the sink for some shitty advice. :twofinger

Rubber snakes? lol... birds are dumb.

I actually have some Honda spray cleaner & polish... I'll give it a try.

You have about 4 hours on a hot day before the paint is damaged. (See pic) Try to remove the bird poop as soon as you see it. Its very acidic and will eat thru the clear into the color. Meguiars final detail is good and just a plain old hot water soaked terry towel works as well.
