Beware. A few months ago i paid Total $110 for the number 3 cylinder to be bored out and heli coil'd and it still works supurb.

Well this week I went in and had him re do the coil for 110 bucks like the last time only to hear it was not the number 3 plug after all, it is the number 1 plug this time, which is fine. But now the bill is near 300$.

His excuse was he cleaned my air filter (never asked for and don't care about) and he went ahead and assumed i'm wealthy and added more costly things that I NEVER requested.

On the the discription of work to be done i wrote number #3 spark plug heli coil. Just to make it extra clear.

No other work was requested other than the heli coil. VERY simple.

He should have asked first to see if i have the budget for his ideas of what he wants to do on my bike.

Beware. I will not recommend. After we spoke he reduced the price and I left him a 40$ tip and left. He was livid.

In all honesty, have you talked to them about your problem before you claimed FRAUD in giant capital letters? Because it could be that you just committed slander.

Did you talk to them before posting this? Because I would have done that before putting them on blast in this manner.

Sounds like someone needs to stop over tightening spark plugs.

I have had them do work on my bikes and never had an issue with their work and I was pleased they inspected other things. Work was an A+.

Fraud or trying to make sure your bike was right and a miscommunication?

Had nothing but excellent experiences at Evolution in the past, so does 2 of my buddies.

Sounds like a miscommunication issue between you and the service personnel, the owner is a reasonable stand up guy, I'd wager he would admit to his own mistakes if you approach him in a professional manner.

It's poor form to go nuts like this without talking to Rob first. Why do you (and others) think the way to deal with problems—imagined or not, misunderstandings or not—is to go super-negative, very publicly?

Shoot first, ask questions later? No bueno. :thumbdown
That shop has good history here, a luxury you don't enjoy.
As said above, buy a torque wrench and know what you're talking about before you start slinging shit.

Rob revalved my forks and did an excellent job. He has always done good by me.

I'm just gonna' take a seat and:

Why would you need to re-helicoil after only a few months?

ROB's work is fair, that is not the point.

One day he charges 110.

The next he charges nearly 300.

What's so hard to grasp guys? I even tipped him 40$ becasue he did things i did NOT ask for.

Don't know what happened between you two but he never did a bait-and-switch with me. Dunno what to tell ya'. :dunno

Wellllll, what's hard to grasp is that this dude has a long history of doing great work for Barfers. You come on and start claiming he committed fraud and is screwing you over. I'd love to hear his side of the story, but in all likelihood, he just wants you to go away. If he did such a crappy job, why tip him?

Trust me, I have had my fair share of battles with shops (mostly due to my old cocksucking BMW). But over 300 bucks? Come on man. I can remember one time when I was new to riding I asked a certain shop to change my tire. They quoted me an hours rate to do the work, then called me fifteen minutes later to say it was done. When I asked how much, it was an hour's worth of time. I told that guy to put my bike back on the rack and let it sit there for forty five minutes, then call me. And I didn't tip him.

Your story makes no sense.
