Rider Down: Count Chocula (Mark P.) Recovery Thread

as I mentioned in the other thread, getting an iPod in the recovery wards was an absolute godsend. The nights get long and boring; unless of course the guy in the bed next to you is completely wacked ;) then you turn up the volume!

Hope he recovers soon..get that boy a PSP..wow, another thread with a rider without insurance..Hopefully this will be last!!

I have a portable DVD player sitting in a drawer and doing nothing. Mark is more than welcome to use it while he recovers.

I live over near there: San Ramon. What do I need to do to get him the player?

David

PHOs...Sorry man.. I misunderstood your intent. MY bad...
Unmojo'd... :teeth

Glad to see folks are visiting Mark.. that is a good thing and I am sure it will help him.

money sent :thumbup

I said it was for goods, I think I read somewhere that paypal discourages charitable donations thru their site :confused

Brian, Wendy, you guys rock! I'll get PM-generated receipt to you later today.

For those offering DVD's, etc., I'll ask Mark about that when I get there (leaving in about a half hour). We don't have his laptop yet, but should soon, so I think he can play DVD's on it.

The first post in this thread is now updated with information for contributing to the Mark Pasanen Recovery Fund, c/o Wells Fargo Bank. The address will also be in my sig line.

Thanks again, everyone, for all the support!

Just got back from the hospital and Mark was in fairly good spirits but an obvious amount of pain. They discovered the additional fracture in his right foot/ankle when they did x-rays yesterday morning, but his doctor hasn't been back in, yet, so nothing has been done for it. :(

I know a lot of emphasis has been placed on financial contributions right now, but I don't ever want to downplay the importance of the just giving some time to visit a fellow rider. If you've never met Mark or only briefly, I know it can be awkward, but having someone besides the guy in the next bed and medical staff to look at and try to talk to is HUGE. SOme may recall being in the same situation when Crowbar was hospitalized for so long, but from my experience, the awkwardness of never having met previously quickly disappeared.

Anyway, Mark now has his grabber, s watch out, he's pretty good at getting hold of things, now!

If anyone is in touch with a BARFer formerly called bumblelee (I think he may have chhanged his screen name), please let me know if he can be contacted on BARF. I'd like to try and talk to his friend who runs the Tiki Lounge about putting on an event of some type. Thanks!

I think Lucky 13 might be able to do some sort of benefit night for him as well, if the Tiki Lounge isn't able or willing. :cool

Thanks, Lisa. I'll be picking your brain tonight as to fund raising and such!

Someone is interested in the 636, and like promised some of the proceeds will go to helping him out. Thanks Barb for all this great work you are putting out toward a fellow rider and friend.

Daniel, that's great! I'm hoping to do something similar with my Yamaha.

I just got back from the hospital and Mark looked 100% better today compared to yesterday. He was finally able to get a decent amount of sleep and it made all the difference in the world. It sounds like they are gonna start doing some physical therapy with him, despite the pelvis, and try to keep him moving whatever he can as much as possible, to avoid complete atrophy and such. I think he's down to Percocet for pain, so not sure how that's gonna be.

He thanks everyone for the kind words and support!

Sent a check.

Hope u feel better soon, Mark.

Mark is looking to get a laptop for cheap , or a loaner. He needs internet access.

Does anyone have a spare or something to sell cheap that he can use for the time being. It has to be compatable with his Air Card so id say it would have to be atleast a p3 or better with windows 2000 , usb and a free pcmcia slot. :confused

What about the dude on this page: http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=182475&perpage=15&pagenumber=8

(RRitterson) Scroll down about 2/3 of the way. He said he has an Ibook. I realize it's a mac, but it's free.

Mike, I'm not sure why he wants to know about the p3 or whatever. I think the biggest issue is getting into his apartment to pick up his laptop, but one way or another, we'd have to, to get his T-Mbile Air card. Maybe it's because it's so big, I'm not sure. I can get hold of rritterson, though, and see if he can get it to one of us.

See everyone riding down to the hospital in a few!

Benjamin is on his way to wells-fargo in alameda.

Mark, get well ASAP!

:thumbup A group of us went down tonight and I think Mark really enjoyed some new faces to look at. :p He seemed in pretty good spirits and was talking a bit about his options once he's released from the hospital. Still nothing on how long he'll be at Eden, although it sounds like there are plans to transfer him to more of a rehabilitative center in the near future.

Still looking for a cheap notebook that will be compatible with his T-Mobile Air card and software. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know. We're not sure if rritterson's Mac would be compatible.

I'm gonna be sending out PM's, but please, if anyone following this thread is willing to help out with a benefit event for Mark, send me a PM. We'll be looking for a venue at which to hold it (might have a location that will work, and possibly a band to play), day/time that is gonna be the best draw and raffle prizes. That's gonna be the most legwork right there, so if you have contact with merchants who might be willing to donate items for raffle, we could really use some help in that regard. I'd like to get a meeting together, hopefully within about a week, to go over details and kick ideas around. Thanks!

bike was sold... unfortunately for less than i intended, yet a check will soon be coming along (i think i'll give it to you in person Barb) Thanks for the updates everybody
