Rider video of incident 5/3 on Hwy 85

correct terminology is observing

no. Who are you?

I'd just like to see them do something useful

you sound triggered

I'm triggered by stupidity, generally. But at least you can admit your CHP hatred is useless.

If anyone sounds like they're triggered, though, it's very likely you. Check the rant you posted.

I see this as totally different than most of you.

First of all most (if not all) of those metered freeway entrances state "one car per green". If you're on a bike and choose to take that green with the car that has been waiting you better be quick and not slow the car driver who has the right to go on the green. The motorcyclist was slower than the car even though he had a rolling start.

Second, the car did NOT appear to make a move on the bike. If you watch, and re-watch the video as I did, you'll see that while the Tesla is accelerating the car ahead in the right lane changes into his lane and slows dramatically trying to force his way into traffic. The Tesla was ahead of the bike so he did the smart thing at that point, he signaled and changed to the right lane which was clear ahead now that the other car(douche bag) had changed lanes in front of him. At this point the bike rider is butt hurt because, the car was faster than him, and he thought the lane change into the right lane in front of the bike was too close. So what. I don't get all upset if someone changes lanes in front of me, unless they do it and then slow down or create a much bigger gap.

Thirdly, while the car is continuing in the right lane and slowing as he approaches traffic ahead the rider comes up to his window at what appears to be in the same lane (even though the other lane is clear) and begins to engage in a road rage shouting match.

Fourthly and probably the most stupid and dangerous move, the rider continues to hand wave and shout at the driver while splitting between the 3rd and 4th lane. This is amazingly stupid. You do realize that a car weighs about 10 times what a bike weighs and can easily slam you to the ground. Here the rider exposes himself to another driver that he has been yelling at, all the while leaving himself in the most vulnerable position. Although I've grown accustom to people being stupid while driving or riding, frankly I'm still astounded when I see a clear example of how dumb they can be.

Finally the rider does what he should have done immediately when the conflict started. He changes lanes to the left and leaves the car driver in the dust stuck in traffic.

I don't engage anyone. I don't ever put myself in a position where some cartard can smash me. I always try to look ahead, think ahead, make a plan, and do a good job executing the plan. Its a continuous process.

I try to never let ego come into play at all. I don't have anything to prove on the highway. If I want to prove something to anyone or myself I take it to the track.

Every time I ride or drive, my number one priority is making it home safe and sound. That's why I have a checkered flag hanging in my garage. Every time I do make it home safe and sound I win !!!

Think about what you're doing out there, and mostly think about getting home when you ride or drive in. Every time you do its a win.

The rider should have seen what was happening up ahead, and behind/beside him and taken appropriate action to avoid becoming a statistic. Poor observation. Nil point.

Driver said "the fuck is wrong with you"

Close but bike was being a dick and engaged. My favorite move is to Rev it out then short shift and let the car win. No harm no foul.

Stop revving! Youll never make friends at this rate! Angry waving ISNT real waving.

Why is anyone going balls deep fast into iffy flowing traffic?

CHP is so useless. Great profit generators for the state due to ticket but when it comes to enforcing laws it seems all they do is fail.

Hit and run? Sorry. No injuries? Get over it. Injuries? Lol we never catch anyone do you know how populated this place is???

Speeding? PFFFT we drive faster than you guys! I'll only pull you over if I want to fuck with you, don't worry.

No chase laws?(Depending on department and situation) PFFFFT I'll make an exception for you and as a bonus call in a helicopter.

Or the commonly used CHP excuse SORRY ROLL CALL SO SERIOUS

Street racing? Sorry, dropped my donut and coffee in my cruiser and didnt notice. Too busy sitting at the light and not looking for trouble!

I've lived in other states and I know for a fact if shit like this went down 4? 5? (Too lazy to watch again) cars ahead, theyd be all over the shoulder and up that teslas' ass.

Yes, he was stuck at a meter. Doesnt matter... I've seen police do crazier shit to stop lesser crimes. That's what the lights and sirens are for, according to most CHP

Oh, he didnt see it? Look more... I'm not sure how you don't notice a car take off at max speed and almost cause an accident not 500ft in front of you

I'm sure plenty will disagree but imo all I've seen from CHP is irresponsibility and uselessness.

I can't agree with that but they do generate tonssss of revenue and it's really annoying how they'll blow by us doing 90 on the freeway, change lanes without signaling, change multiple lanes at a time etc. but don't you plebeians dare do it unless you want hundreds of dollars in fine and increased insurance rates.... :/

Back on topic

Right, the lane change was not malicious. Plenty of time for the rider to react. So he did, by pulling in the clutch. :laughing

Much ado about nothing really.

He did start braking right when he cut off the motorcyclist so I'd say there was some kind of aggression towards the rider (not malicious in a crash-worthy way though).

For on-ramps with metering lights, what's the splitting etiquette? Split to the front and go with the next green or stop in front of the car right behind the 1st car?

Fuck that Tesla driver.

Teslas are quickly becoming the new Silicon Valley Douchebag car.

Agreed, probably not malicious on the Tesla's part but he's still an idiot for flying up to that black sedan. Not too many road-ragers signal before cutting you off. However had he hit the rider, I'm sure he "didn't see him." Rider could have assessed that situation better and adjusted speed to avoid the needle-threading situation. What he did after the cut-off was just idiotic. Engaging like that (while splitting, at that) is asking for trouble.

rider immediately switched to the lane next to the tesla after going through the light. at this point, he is not in the drivers way, at all. the driver, who we can guess, has been driving california's roadways for a while, knows the bike will win out in the end...why did he engage in this pissing contest???

oh, that's right, he's a fuckin douchebag. the rider took advantage of his arrival at the light and blasted off.

tech-bro-fuck-bag engaged the rider

I don't think it's quite that cut & dried. Even though the Tesla could out-gun the HD, it was a bit of dick move by the Tesla driver with that commute traffic right in front of them. It was clearly an "Oh no you don't" move. You can see the Tesla was next to the HD the whole way and, IMO, clearly intent on passing.

As far as the HD rider goes, it appears an assumption on his part that any cars behind him would simply stay there. With a rolling start that's usually the case. I make the same assumption every time I do it, but if I see a car keeping up and accelerating, they're intentions are clear, and I'll give way.

I'd say it was bad form on both their parts.

Yes, Tesla was a dick.

But the rider was an idiot. Get AWAY from the bad drivers, don't try to stay next to them.

The motorcyclist didn't come to a complete stop and metering lights are usually one vehicle per green light. :later

:thumbup

The Car guy didn't do anything different than what I would expect if I took the green and didn't get the hell out of the way. Maybe a bit aggressive but so what. On a threat assessment scale of 1 - 10 w/ 1 being a 10 yr old girl on a hello kitty bike on the sidewalk and 10 a lifted truck trying to check a bike off the overpass the tesla move was somewhere around a 6.

The Harley guy should be embarrassed. He takes the green, can't complete the move then throws a tantrum. Had the sound off but if the guy was reving in some sort of attempt to intimidate, thump his chest or fake some claim to horse power :rolleyes:facepalm

Re: the CHP.

He appears to be way the hell back in traffic and doubt he saw the much of anything and if he did probably figured it wasn't a big deal (which it wasn't).

If I was in that line of cars and saw the tree light up I would figure he was after the bike; not the tesla. Bike didn't stop, took the green and assuming the bike was wot maybe busting the speed limit.

OP you put yourself in a narrow area with someone who knows he can out drag you.
Arrogant tesla owner in traffic. No good.
You could of avoided it all.
Best defense is to not engage or even give them the reason to engage.
Some people especially high end car owners think the roadways belong to them.
Let the monkeys go, your safety depends on it. Car pinball isn't a game you can win.

this POS. I was on the highway 1 a month ago, at Half moon bay and he started to follow me putting is headlight in strobe mode immitating a cop. I remember it cause I let him pass to note the plate and I remember it ending in 84 (number of the county next to where I am from in France).

I should have broke his fucking mirror fucking piece of shit who deserves to be a horse sex slave.

Rider isn't innocent here. He did show poor etiquette at the light. He should have been able to read that situation better. Tesla was hauling ass and closing in quick on car in front.
So two possibilities: he either piles on the brakes or switches lanes last second. Rider has more to lose and nothing to gain when situation goes wonky.

Tesla driver was a dick, but rider is going to end up in the morgue if he doesnt cool his jets. Sorry but thats some shit riding right there, :thumbdown

Tesla cars can strobe their headlights? HOW COOL IS THAT? :laughing
