If you blow a double yellow" thread.
Except that no one died or got taken out... but that was just luck of the draw.
OH... my bad... I apologize for the error...
An inexperience HD/Cruiser rider on a fine road like Mines riding the speed limit is the same things as somebody blowing a DY due to speed.
This is BARF, I should realize that I have to be very clear in what I say.
And my last position still holds.... I have zero patience for any rider who crosses over a DY and makes all rider look bad.
I'm with ya on the zero patience thing, which is why I'm trying so hard to do something about it with Newbie rides, working one-on-one with new riders, doing
1Rider events, and making it a point to pull aside riders I see riding over their head and actually take the time to talk to them about body positioning, lane positioning, cornering, etc etc etc to help become better riders- and not kill others OR themselves.
Having said that, let me correct you and say that 1) it was NOT Mines, it was Hiway 9, and 2) the cruiser rider absolutely was riding WAY too fast for his skillsets, and absolutely was exceeding the posted speed limit. Now, I personally don't have an issue with someone exceeding the posted speed limit if they know what they're doing, and can keep it in their lane. He couldn't.
The more I think about this the more upset I get.
I empathize with the group of cruiser riders just out for a pleasant putt through the woods. Those careless, thoughtless, stupid, reckless, reckless squids need to be PUNISHED!
The lead squid has already suffered the ultimate punishment. But he wasn't racing alone. Those other squids that were racing with him are also responsible for the deaths and the injuries to the others.
Those squids need to be PUNISHED!
Pro Tip: You'll read a LOT of stuff on this forum that will get you riled up. Might want to take a breath and let it go... your blood pressure will thank you for it...
As for the sprotbile riders... yeah, the lead rider messed up bad- and paid for it with his life. But they call it "young and dumb" for a reason... if the harley riders hadn't been there, it would've been another "whoops oh shit!" moment that his buddies gave him shit about later... and most of the riders I know had a moment or two of those early on in their riding careers... are you telling me you've never blown a double yellow? It's a terrible tragedy... but it could just as easily have been "just" a pucker moment...
Something for us all to think about the next time we're out riding and wick it up a bit...
