RIP, Dolly Parton

Quite a wonderful woman. I was very impressed with her ability to play guitar with long nails. RIP

:rip Dolly.
Damn. My parents loved her. While I am in no way a country music fan, I don’t know how anyone could not love Dolly. Tears in my eyes.
I'm afraid Willie will be next. 🙁

I love what you all have shared. I remember hearing "Islands in the Stream" when I was a wee kid on a trip to Jamaica with my mom. We were bathing in a mountain pool and that song/memory are forever part of my consciousness.

:rip Dolly you will be missed. A special person, I have grandkids who are hooked on books because of Dolly, they got books every month until they turned 5. One of the many things she did for children.

Absolute legend - a gem of a human being. Kind. Humble. Tough. Real. This has hit hard - these days people like her are a treasure and her legacy will be one of honor and love.

Dolly was the best of us. Always positive, making the world a better place for those less fortunate, always kind, never a bad word about anyone, generous to a fault, an amazing ability to laugh at herself, and to also laugh at those who thought she was less than the icon she really was.

My first thought was "Who's going to fill their shoes?" I grew up with Dolly and Loretta, George and Tammy, Marty, Lefty, Willie, and Merle. Every time one of them takes their leave, I feel as though my childhood history has been diminished. One step closer to my parents' generation disappearing. And thus mine, I guess. :(

Not an easy day, that's for sure...

OMG she seemed to be ageless. So down to earth. Her songwriting was superb - so simple yet so full of meaning. And that voice with the Southern twang was amazing.

Play this song and try not to cry.
