I'm not sure exactly how I found Wendell Berry, but I would guess it was about 1992 or 1993 when I read his collection of essays called, Sex, Economy, Freedom & Community which sent me on a jag of his books whether they be essays, novels, or poetry. He was a great thinker, and an advocate for doing things slowly, thoughtfully, and locally. Earlier in his life he was a Stegnerian Fellow at Stanford in the same class as Ken Kesey. I found his writing to be insightful, pithy, and careful. He made a big impact on me, and you might like his writing too, at least if you're willing to allow your assumptions to be challenged. Thanks for everything, Wendell.
