Anyone else notice them replacing the cat piss with water? I had a feeling that professional athletes wouldn't put that crap in their bodies. I wonder how common that is. I'll bet it's the norm rather than the exception. If you're a 19 year old and drink that tard nectar.... sorry.
 
I always assumed *none* of those guys actually had their bottles filled with whatever horse piss they were pimping, and instead had it filled with coconut water or something other than poison, except for maybe Rossi. I always imagined he had his filled with Cinzano, to go with his fags.

Have to say, the global economy's hit everybody hard. GP and F1 were the two racing series where you'd be spared from having to watch your heroes turn into complete whores in the interview and remind everyone every chance they got who actually paid the bills. Turn on Nascar and like little trained monkeys every mention of "the car" became "my Kmart Blue Light Special Vagisil Cream Chevrolet Lumina." It's become just as disgusting every time they're caught on camera in the garage to see the MotoGP guys consciously remember to grab their bottle of Gonads and Fromunda energy piss. Probably half the reason Crutchlow is so desperate for that factory ride is so he doesn't have to subject himself to that humiliation anymore.
 
take a closer look at what their drinking, might just be "Monster Tour Water".

They don't drink the "energy" drink for the simple reason it's caffeinated. Nobody wants to take a break in lap23 to piss.

Once at some race the camera caught Lorenzo's crew filling up his energy drink bottle with water, when the dude realized he was on camera he looked a bit sheepish.
 
Since when is a little caffeinated sugar-water = poison? Do racers not need energy? And caffeine does improve performance (both physical and mental).

Caffeine is a diuretic and stimulant. It increases heart beat and blood pressure, two things that a racer does NOT need. The amount of adrenaline in the blood in a race already has those guys pulses up to 120-150 and their blood pressure higher than normal. The last thing they need is more stimulant. O, and a piss break.

Stimulant? yes.

Increase HR? Maybe

Increase BP? Maybe


Bottom line is that caffeine works.
 
I just assumed the pit crew was making themselves a celebratory drink and adding some vodka to their monster! :p

Works for improving physical and cognitive performance. It has been studied. Before you assume I'm ignorant, consider that you might not know everything on the subject.

Specifically, re: diuresis- to people not caffeine-naive, caffeine does not cause appreciable diuresis. And even in caffeine-naive it has only a mild effect. So no, it won't make Rossi have to take a pit stop mid-race.
 
The energy drinks picked up where the tobacco companies left off. All upside for what I can see.

Caffeine, taurine, and guarana, which is like caffeine on steroids. "Fast racers have slow hands." Ever heard that one? Last thing these guys want is some stimulant that jags them up before they get on the bike. Again, if it worked, they wouldn't all be dumping the shit down the drain.
