Roundabouts

I’ve been through one like this in London. Mind bending - May actually be a wormhole to another galaxy or time period.

Wow, what a mess. Imagine if traffic was REALLY heavy, like bumper to bumper and grid locked, or if there was an accident in the middle stopping traffic. Yikes.

There's one roundabout in my city. I walk by it 2-3 times a week since I don't feel like gearing up just to ride 1/4 mile down the street to the grocery store, movie theater, or sports bar.

There's entry from 3 directions and if there's 3 cars coming, it's always confusion of "hey man... you gonna go?"

Most places I've been to in the US where I've seen roundabouts, they seem to cause more congestion than conventional intersections. If we were taught how to use roundabouts at the same time we learned everything else about driving, I'm sure they'd be fine.

Spending some time of my career in road/highway design, If I counted the times I've seen plans including roundabouts, I'd probably have a couple left to give a BARF salute to driver's education classes that don't teach roundabout use. :twofinger

It's the small ones where the city plops a circle island in an intersection without enlarging the intersection!
Arrgghhh!!!
On those I sometimes see peeps turn left without going around the island. :mad
