I'm replacing my clutch cover and believe some places want a little dab of RTV.
Are there any good options I can pick up locally?
thanks, but I wasn't asking about how to clean things.I would use acetone as long as the parts are metal. And if you really want to be anal, finish with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Rubbing alcohol will work as well, but since it's 30% water, you'll have to make sure it's dry before assembling.
Any other solvents will either leave a residue, are nasty to work with, or hard to find.
I'm in the medical device business and in manufacturing, when cleaning metal parts, we use acetone followed with isopropyl alcohol. Works great.
Is that something I should be able to pick up from a Toyota dealer's parts department? https://smile.amazon.com/Genuine-Toyota-00295-00103-Formed-Place/dp/B000EDDTV0?sa-no-redirect=1 is that what you speak of?three bond or toyota seal. Do NOT use RTV.

I see various different varieties of Hondabond and Yamabond, suggestions on which one?Threebond, yamabond, hondabond, -----bond, they work best for me. I rarely have long term success with RTV in petroleum sutuations. Permatex blue works for water pumps for coolant systems but thats it. Never have a differential cover on my trucks leak with threebond.
