I'm trying to build a set of wheels for racing with my Sur Ron Light Bee for mini supermoto races. The tire I'm trying to run is the Dunlop Moto3 racing slick. The wheel set I am building will put me at 17x2.15" front and 17x2.50" rear. The Dunlop Moto3 comes in 90/80/17 Front and 115/75/17 Rear.
I was going to run it just like that but then i notice on their website the Recommended rim size for the 90/80/17 is 2.15" to 2.50". The 115/75/17 is for 2.75-3.50" rims. So I'm a bit of a ways off if I want to use the rear tire. So I was thinking since the front tire falls within the recommended range for my front and rear wheels that I just run the exact same front tire on both rims and just flip the rear tire.
Just wondering if this will work alright? I know motorcycle wheels are generally staggered with the wider wheel being the rear. But to run these tires I don't really have a choice. For a supermoto will this be ok? Since the rim is slightly wider in the rear it would probably lower the profile by a little bit compared to the front. I also noticed the compounds are the same front and rear so it shouldn't matter in regards to the compound.
Here's info on the Moto3
