Satanic church passing out coloring books in school...

No offense, but you started the "no offense" offense. No offense...

Yes, that's how I've always viewed laveian (spell?) Satanism. As a more philosophical version of the pastafarianism. That's the satanism that put out that book. However we both understand that's just a satire not the real thing. Either or, saying that voltaire was a satanist is at the very least a very big stretch.
That satire is exactly why most folks realize that Voltaire was a Satanist. You may have studied, but apparently you didn't understand...

I don't know why but somehow I was expecting a bit better from you than this silly and antagonizing reply. I guess that's the only option left when you don't have good arguments. And the air of superiority you use makes it even sillier.

In that case, take another "missing the point" point. It's not an argument, it's just plain facts.

No offense... ;)

Eh, I was playing in black metal bands and living in that culture when you were in preschool bud. And yes, there are real satanist black metal bands.

There are also Christian black metal bands, so what? I know satanist black metal bands exist, they are just fgts.

Is religious belief one way or the other a requirement of being a real fan of this music?

Kinda worrisome.

No requirement but its all about paganism and atheism anyway. I dunno why religious people would listen listen to music that says their faith is shit.

I do? Well please enlighten me! Always interested in learning new things.

Sure, most active, "Satanist," faiths and religions are systems of belief that do not at all subscribe to Christian Dogma or work in any way as the type you described as the only one you would accept. The most common type is Laveyan Satanism, which uses the idea of Satan as a sort of anti-christian ideal metaphor. It is a system that believes the only true path to enlightenment is through self-empowerment, which is the opposite of the subjugation dogma presented in Christian faith. Where the pious Christian can serve only Jesus, because god controls all things in the universe, the Laveyan Satanist can only serve himself, because his perception of reality defines his world and it is all he can reliably control. It is a system that acknowledges Christian belief, but does not acknowledge the Christian God.

There are a number of other cults of what is generally known as, "Theistic Satanism," with different rituals and practices that involve worship of deity like figures including some sort of Satan character and none of them I am aware of practice legitimate worship of the ruler of Hell as imagined by modern Christians. That sort of silly Christian Black Sabbath is typically only practiced by pissed of white teenagers trying to be badass and defiant to freak their parents out.

Most, "Left Hand Path," practices were developed in the last 120 years or so, although many claim to be part of a much older tradition (Temple of Set, etc.). If you want to look more into the development of the Black Arts in the contemporary world, a great place to start is with the life and times of Aleister Crowley, the Order of the Golden Dawn and the attempt to establish the Abby at Thelema. There was a tremendous interest in mysticism, magic and spiritualism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries (Harry Houdini was a famous debunker of many mystic charlatans) and exploration of Egypt in particular during the period provided a LOT of inspiration for mystic orders that came about to be what they are today.

This was clearly written by a hard core Manowar fan. :laughing

A three-piece heavy metal band performed at the much-talked about Black Mass which was held Sunday night (September 21) in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The group's guitarist wrote a "METAL CHURCH" shirt during the set, which kicked off the sold-out event at which the organizer, local satanist Adam Daniels, fully dressed in his black and red robe, performed a satanic ritual. The mass also reportedly featured a desecration of the Holy Eucharist, which Catholics believe to be the literal body of Christ, and an exorcism of the Holy Spirit.

Only 42 people — roughly half of the total tickets sold — actually showe up for the Mass, which was protested by hundreds of Christian believers. Nearly 300 Catholics from Wichita, Kansas as well as several more from Topeka, took buses to Oklahoma City to peacefully protest the event.

"Shocking to think that they worship the devil instead of god," protester Estefani Martinez told KFOR.com.

"For Catholics, it's the most grievous offense against God you can commit," said Francis Slobodnik, who drove in on a bus from Kansas for the event.

"We came down here to show our displeasure in a prayerful, peaceful way, to show our support for God and our faith and to stand up to Satan," added Slobodnik.

Anthony Leon, whose band was scheduled to perform at the Black Mass, said about the protesters: "I respect their right to do what they’re doing so long as they leave us alone, we'll leave them alone."

"The Black Mass is really a mass celebrating death." Father Bill Pruett of St. James the Greater Catholic Church told Fox 25. "The devil is all about death and evil is about death."

"The actual occasion for this event today was to reaffirm our belief as Catholic Christians that Jesus Christ is alive and well just as he always has been," Pruett said.

A Civic Center spokesperson told Fox 25 that they allowed the service to be held in their building because they couldn't deny the Black Mass organizers since the Civic Center is a public-use facility.

"We cannot deny rental to anyone group based upon the content of their message even if that message is objectionable to other people," Jennifer McClintock, OKC Civic Center Public Information Manager, said.

I find the whole genre to be strange, in general.
