School me on office chairs

Our office purchased expensive adjustable chairs and a consultant on ergonomics. I ended up taking one of the straight back wooden chairs from the break room and putting a half roll of paper towels in the small of the back.

why not just use one of the expensive chairs and put a piece of wood in the small of the back?

I've tried a lot of high end task chairs from Steelcase / Herman Miller / Humanscale etc.

Nothing touches the Aeron.

An Aeron combined with frequent foam rolling exercises on my tight hamstrings relieved my perpetual lower back and shoulder pain.

I crushed some work in the first half of the day so I decided to go chill by the pool for a little then took my new puppy out for a walk. Backpain was basically gone after about 1.5-2hrs off the chair. Like clockwork when I sat back down to work, my upper back was aching. Could be placebo, or could be the chair, but I'm really inclined to believe its the chair now.

My leapv2 should arrive by the weekend luckily

Aeron, Leap, Aeron, Leap...it’s like Coke and Pepsi.

Anyone have the Steelcase Gesture or the Herman Miller Embody?

Okay, you didn't even bother trying to read the thread :laughing

You’re the only one. What I should’ve said is does anyone else have those chairs.

And nobody has the Gesture.

And why the fuck am I asking about this? Like I’m really gonna drop close to $1500 to have a place to sit to play video games on the weekend?

Sigh...I probably fucking will. Then my wife who actually does work from home will get super jelly and steal it, which means I have to buy another. Meaning I’m going to spend $3000 to have a place to sit to play video games. God dammit.

The funny part is i actually spend way less time in front of the computer now than i did before i got the chair. I promise the chair isn't the reason :laughing

I it on a wood folding chair. Ever try Yoga? I think I could sit on a cinder block and be fine these days

Also, when I was working a lot, I found that a standing desk with sit breaks was great for me at keeping my posture right.

did some one say "Gaming chair"?

May I present "gaming embody chair"

Perhaps my Trailer is showing, but I have never in my life sat in a chair that I think was worth $1500. I mean, some of the wacky massage chairs with heat and shit out there might talk me into it, but this shit is just an office chair.

No heat, no cooling device, no massaging tools. Just a a chair and it isn't even an interesting art piece. That is baffling.

1. I have a Herman Miller Embody. It's good and all, but maybe my ass is too bony because after a couple hours it gets uncomfortable.

2. I also have a BodyBilt High-Back Task. It's more comfy than the Herman Miller imo - more padding in the ass, more padding in the back, just as much adjustment

3. Both of them pale in comparison to lounging on my couch, but when I need to use my desk so I can have my extra monitors they're good. I tend to use the Herman Miller for work and the BodyBilt for work / gaming.

My vote is the Aeron.

My company switched from Herman Miller to Knoll and I hated the ReGeneration. I switched back to my Aeron and everyone in the office regrets not keeping their Aerons.
I would not want to do hours of video editing without my Aeron.

I got a deal on a mesh chair from Staples some years ago and it seems to work fine. No backaches or sore ass. I work from home and am in the chair all day but I do have copious padding on my fat ass so maybe that helps.....

Spending $1500 on a chair just seems crazy to me. I was also going to suggest a gaming chair but that has already been done.
