Looking for a new helmet because my first one was compromised in my crash.

does anyone recommend this helmet?

DOT, and Snell certified and it's not expensive.

Anyone use this helmet and recommend it?

This is just to get an idea of the helmet... nothing more.

I've had my 707 for a couple years now. Got it on a black friday sale. It is the best fitting helmet I've ever had. Their sizes run a tad large and I ended up buying a small lid. I have not had any problems with it. If i had to pick something to complain about I would say its a bit noisy but I use ear plugs when I ride so that doesn't bother me. I say try the lid on if it fits go for it. If I'm not mistaken I think 707 is a re-badged Bell helmets.

That's actually a rebadged X-Speed (so says the visors). Some are rebadged Bell/Oneals.

I bought one of the original 707 helmets 2-3 years ago as a passenger/back up helmet. I haven't had any problems with it.

My ol' lady and I wear them on the street. They're good (enough) for the street, albeit a little loud. Not bad though and I don't wear earplugs on the street.

Did a 9-10 hour (straight) ride in them and we were fine. (Vegas!!)

Kind of hard to beat the money, really.... go pick one up!

It only has to work once...

Have had mine for a couple of yrs now and agree w/ everything Aszreal posted.

Picked mine up because it fit better than anything else out there that I tried on including the shoei that it was replacing. Also bought one for my kid so she could go to Death Valley w/ me.

Only issue has been the "skirt" around the neck. The vinal will split. fwiw I wear it every day so it gets a lot of use. After a few months the plastic splits. Returned the first one and C.G. replaced it :thumbup. The replacement helmet did the same thing after about 7 months. Was going to just pull it out but it keeps the liner in so will just cut it out for now.

I had a different 707 once, also black friday deal <100$. It was ok for me because it was my first helmet. After having ridden a Schubert S1 Pro for two years I must say that the 707 was way too heavy. And simple. And cheap. But it worked as a first helmet.

This. Bought one as a backup/passenger unit. I wear it more than my main. It just *fits* really well to my odd shaped head.

That being said, make sure you run into the store and try it on before purchase if you have a store close by.

I got a Seven-Zero-Seven as my first helmet and it was great value. I vastly prefer my Shoei RF-1100 but it's not TWICE a good (though it was more than 2x the price).

If you're curious about how your helmet would hold up in a crash, the UK has a website with some rather surprising test results... I was a little shocked at how poorly Arai did with side impact testing... :|

yup i'm pretty broke (like 400 bucks a month paycheck :wow ) and the seven zero seven is starting to look attractive and the Snell 2010 certification is appealing.

I might just get it before spring break.

I bought one once and it was so god damn loud even with earplugs in I just returned it. Spend a bit more...

CONNIE you are awesome AWESOME awesome.

thanks for this link! very informative.

WoW on the modular helmets. some stayed closed for 40% of the tests.

crazy scarey info.

hmmm thanks for the heads up!
i’m gonna be doing mostly street riding. you think it’ll be that bad?

I'll repeat most of the stuff here.
I bought one as a back-up/passenger lid. I even wore it at the track once when tech couldn't find the sticker inside my Shoei.
Fits great, but loud as hell at speed. (not a big deal...earplugs)
My only complaint is a shadow is produced in my line of sight, inside the helmet, only in full tuck with the sun at a certain angle. I haven't figured out the cause as of yet (I don't use it enough) and it's never happened to me with any other helmet.
Not really a hazard, but distracting as fuck.
